    (Takatsuka sets the record straight)
Interestingly, although EA has no official comment on the matter yet, sources indicate that FIFA may not have a year's exclusivity window for next-gen platforms either.

Wow! These 'exclusives' time frames are getting shorter and shorter!

    Good find.

That is an unfortunate misunderstanding (or twisting of the truth or lie, whichever way you want to look at it). I'll still be surprised to see a PS3 version of PES before PES 7.

MS should have paid some $ rather than rely on the idea of an annual release.

    EDIT: Clarification perhaps?

there you go thats the difference betwen the developer on the product commenting and the actual person who makes the decisions. so there we have it PES will not be on PS3 until late summer whihc is august:lesson:

Looks like a real mess-up by MS here, that's one very misleading press conference they gave. It's obvious that they never signed an exclusivity agreement as some sites have been making out (though MS never said they did), but MS were working on the assumption that Konami weren't going to bother putting a PS3 PES6 out in mid-07 when PES7 will be out just a couple of months after.

Bad of MS to put such a specific timescale on it when it wasn't the case. However, even if Konami pull a blinder, it's still going to be spring '07 before a PS3 release in Europe - a good 5-8 months after the 360 version.

I've still not seen an unconditional commitment from Konami that a PS3 PES6 is coming out though, just suggestions...?

I just don't see it. I think (Konami) will wait and go with an annual release (on the same day) for all platforms. The only thing that might effect that is an earlier Japanese release, which may or may not be region free.

You can almost see it though... Konami: Yes, yes, Bill, this years game won't make the PS3. Bill: Get this memo to the PR guys -- no soccer game from Konami on PS3 for 12 months. Emphasis twelve months.

    My take: it'll be 11 months. ;)

I hope PES comes quickly to the PS3, I much prefer the PS controller shoulder buttons for footie (although the 360 shoulder buttons are a great leap forward over the orginal).

Totally not bothered about Fifa, just play them on my 360 for "cheap" gamerpoints, the gameplay is pants.

To be honest, when it comes to PES I love the series and have done for the last 10 years with it being my all time fave game series.

That said, even though knocking the FIFA franchise had almost become a past time of mine, I did find the FIFA World Cup game to be pretty good. It's certainly still not a patch on PES IMO, but it's still a pretty fine game which is good fun to play. Much better than any recent FIFA game that I have played.

By all accounts FIFA 07 is improved yet further so hopefully we could finally be heading to a time where we have two great footie games to choose from.:)
