Does anyone have experience of this camera?

It has a very good spec (4. MP) for the price (£279), but has has mixed reviews on the internet about it's picture quality.

I have looked at some other cameras (Sony, Pentax) but these are all 3. MP

    Thanks

    John

Does anyone think that a Sony or Pentax 3.3M.P would be better then the 4M.P Kodak in terms of picture quality?

Its not just the brand name, a lot has to do with size. Ie small means compromised optics.

It depends how perfect you want it. All of the manufacturers at this price will have compromises. With Kodak, sony or pentax you cant really go too far wrong. I have a canon S45 and I compared it to a loaned Kodak DX4900 4Mp camera. The canon had the edge because I hade more compensatory control (aperture priority, shutter priority, etc). SO on the whole I took better pics with the canon. The canon I thought had better colours (but these can be adjusted post processing anyway) but the canon was £550 RRP at the time so twice the price. In terms of focus and vignetting the Kodak was fine perfectly acceptable.

Its one of those things where you need to be looking at the really fine detail to notice the difference. And to a certain extent any slight defissioncies in sharpness and colour can always be touched up later.

It's not a bad price but you can now get the Minolta F100 for £279: http://uk.pricerunner.com/exec/Redi...at=29&t=prdmdl&ref_site=&af_subname=&ret=4876

I'd fancy the Minolta to have the edge on the Kodak performance wise plus it offers more exposure options (aperature/shutter priority etc).

If I had £280 to spend on a camera I'm pretty sure I'd go for the F100.

    Matt.
