No DPL2x and no provision for using small satellite speakers.
Possibly not ideal for Kef eggs and similar ?
Cyrus claim benefits from having all channels set to LARGE, possibly true.

I've just picked up a Cyrus AV8 on HCC's classifieds (thanks Clive!) being fully aware of it's AV limitations as gringott mentions above, it also has no audio delay which seriously limits its use with plasmas and maybe projectors if the dvd player does not have this feature. It's trump card is it's resolving power - it will unearth detail in movie soundtracks that other £1k processors merely hint at - I did an A/B comparison against Rotel's RSP1066 and although this had good spatial effects placement and plenty of clout, the Cyrus paints a much more convincing audio scenario to my ears. In stereo mode it blows the Rotel away, and it is this that ultimately sold me on the AV8. I use my system about 50/50 for movies and CD music - for anyone else with similar requirements, it is probably the best processor this side of a Tag AV32.

AV8 is a decent enough 2 channel processor [digital only], but as far as DD/DTS there are a lot better out there for a lot less money.

which is why I have the following system

    aCa7 + PSX-R
    aPa7x2
    DVD8 + PSX-R
    Yamaha DSPAX640SE

    Mission 783
    Mission 78C1
    Mission 77C1
    Mission 771e
    MJ REF100

in recent eBay sales they are selling 2nd hand for anything between £500-£600 which is pretty cr*p for a £1000 new amp. Usually all under a year old, which confirms my views if you ask me.
