We are looking at getting a new kitchen soon and have a few quotes from local indepentants which are all coming in about £18k for everything. Nervous about spending that much and it not being as good as what we expect.
Has anyone recently had a kitchen fitted, how much was it and would you recommend the person who did it.

Thanks......Rich

I have been supplying kitchens to the trade from our base in Basildon for 23 years, so have more than a little knowledge about the trade!
Most good retailers will keep a book, with pictures of completed projects and letters from satisfied customers. Also it is quite possible to go and visit previous installations and talk to the clients.
The other main thing is to set a delivery date when ordering, keep the deposit to a sensible amount and check that the company has been trading for some time (there are a few rogues, and I mean just a few, that do re-invent themselves with new names every couple of years or so).
If you are uneasy to spend so much with one supplier, maybe considering purchasing the appliances elsewhere? Most kitchen suppliers will allow you to do this, as they know it is difficult to be competetive with some of the on-line retailers.

Thanks mate, not so much nervous about spending it in one place just nervous about spending that much and not being happy with it.
Do you supply and fit for the public like me?
If so have you website/pictures?
If not do you know much about the independents in Colchester?

I supply normally only to kitchen specialists and builders, but don't mind to supply the odd kitchen direct. I have a showroom, but it is only really for the trade and is not retail orientated.
I do not advertise or have a web site as it is only trade sales normally and obviously are 'hidden' from the public view.
If you have a design, I am happy to look at it and give some advice, with regards to price I would need to know the specification of the cabinets, worktops and appliances.
I don't supply to the Colchester area so don't know much about retailers there, but if you are ready to buy from one I maybe able to ask around for some info.

We had a new kitchen last year through www.kbbc.co.uk

It was 16k (plus some bits we got on top of the kitchen... Range and hood, floor tiles, glass splash backs)

I think there are pics in the link in my sig. We are still really pleased with it!

i would love to see the photo of the folding table and how it looks, I'm looking to get my kitchen done
