For anyone still looking/hunting for this at a reasonable price I ordered it from dvdslimited last week and it arrived today complete with the dvd, the sword, t-shirt, bearbrick and also with the yellow rider-suit thingy all for £50.99 :smashin:

Where is this company based? I am contemplating placing an order but worried about getting snagged by customs.
Also, it doesn't say anything about the rider suit cover on the website. I thought they were only available through Japanese HMV pre-orders?

Looking at their website, they use a UK phone number for contact but I think they have a channel islands depot where they post from thus avoiding problems with customs. My disc arrived without customs stickers and I paid nothing extra as regards to charges.

Maybe I was lucky with the suit...

You can order with confidence from this company. Everything is shipped from the UK, so no customs to pay! Shipping is just £1 or £4.95 if you require special delivery. I've ordered a few things from dvdslimited including the Kill Bill box set and Alien Head. The packaging is always excellent and goods arrive quickly. My Kill Bill box set came with a rider suit jacket, so I would expect you will get one. Upon ordering you will receive an email to confirm your order and you can check your account details/order history any time to check when items have been posted. £50.00 is an excellent price considering what some are charging!

    Regards

    popeye :)

Dunno where you got that idea from. They are, and always have been, based in the mainland UK. In King's Langley, in fact. If they have something in stock, it is posted from Hertfordshire by 1st class mail. So it usually arrives the next day +/- the performance of the Post Office.

Well i placed an order sunday morning and it took them until monday afternoon to say they are out of stock...The email didn't even have a subject, so it got filtered by a spam trap.

Can't say i think much of them, not limmiting thier orders to what they have in stock etc.

And i was really looking forward to that one....anywhere else ???

Let's be fair. There would be nobody there all day Sunday. So, in fact, it took them from 10.00 Monday until "Monday afternoon" to tell you they were out of stock.

That's not unreasonable IMO. In fact it's pretty prompt. There are enough other firms out there that would

    a) take your money first
    b) keep you waiting without contact for a couple of weeks
    c) then maybe tell you they are out of stock
    d) keep you waiting for up to a month before refunding you

Omitting a subject line in an Email is an easy thing to do. And the behaviour of your spam filter is out of their control.

They may not always be the cheapest source for import DVDs, but I have always found them to be very quick, and to have exemplary customer service. I have been a customer of theirs since the days of Laserdisc.

Arse...I meant Tuesday afternoon. Of course monday would have been fine, though i still would have expected an automatic cut off for stock...its not really very hard to do these days !

My spam filter put it in the unsure box...its a baysan filter and a lot of spam i get has no subject, so i can see its reasoning....Its pretty naff anyway !

Well as a first time expiriance, its not the best. Can't say i think much of the web site either, very little real info on most titles. Also tittles say "region 2 !" yet the details warn region 1 only....so which is correct ???

    Cya,
    Lee

Agreed - their website isn't the most technically advanced.

I emailed them about the R1 vs R2 thing. This, too, is a feature of their website design. Their primary focus is on R1 and their main catalogue includes hard-coded references to R1. Specialist R2 Japan items are a recent addition to their range. They say they can't (without some technical redesign) put anything R2 or other as a headline item without including it in their R1 section. Hence they add the R2 statement to the disc title.

They are only a fairly small operation (unlike say Amazon or HMV) which I guess limits their ability to spend fortunes on techy website design. And I'm pretty sure that their stock position, and emails like the one you received, will both be updated or prepared by a person - not anything automated.

Of course, there is a massive upside to the small, person-run operation: they really ARE VERY good at service - e.g. replacing broken cases, unplayable discs, etc. in my experience.

Why not pop down to their shop one day. It's on the high street in Kings Langley - Not a hell of a long way from Huntingdon. The guy who works there is not the most clued up but he'll always 'phone a friend' if you have any questions. Definately the best R1 retailer I've come across in this area.

Awww this sounds wicked. Whats the sword like, is it plastic or what ? Whats the other stuf in it like. It must be worth £50. I really am tempted.

So, I'm the only one who thinks that spending £30 extra (and there are plenty of people spending considerably more than that) for a couple of items of what are, frankly, tat is a little foolish. Can anyone tell me what, for example, I (or they) would do with a three inch sword?

Incidentally, I've seen all of the boxset extra stuff available on ebay for not too much money recently if anyone really just wants the little sword of the bearbrick if anyone really wants them and can't get hold of the boxset.

Yes £30 is a bit much for a lego bear, a toothpick and a t shirt. But I understand the Japanese sets become quite collectable. Which is why mine is still 'mint-in-the-box'.

As are most sets purchased by collectors i would imagine. Let's be honest, no-one is going to/has bought this set without having owned or at least watched the movie already.
There are 2 reasons to get it.

    1) to keep mint in box as dan says.

    2) to flog to gullible muppets on ebay for twice what you paid. (Those are the ones who think it's worth an extra £60+ for a toothpick, a t-shirt and a bit of lego!!!)

There's probably gonna be an ultimate directors cut of the complete movie in a big special box at some point anyway, god knows what that will have in it...
