How unsuitable is Kill Bill for a 13 year old girl??

The violence aspect is fine as is the language it's the sexual stuff that concerns me.
Are there any lets say embarrassing moments in it? Or should i let her watch it with us?

Nothing sexual that I can recall, but personally I'd never let a 13 yr old watch it as it is so incredibly gratuitous. We're all different though I guess:)

She really isn't fazed at all by violence blood or gore and is almost a black belt in tae kwon do and is desperate to see this if there is nothing sexual in it i may give in and let her watch it.

Thanks for the reply:smashin:

My boy, who is nearly 13 watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Only one implied sex scene, not a major problem.

We also watched Love Actually, and was highly embarressed:eek: Not what we expected from a cert 15 publicised so much for Mothers Day!

The violence is very gratuitous and there is are short sections where Paedophilia is mentioned via comic strip, mange style and having sex with lifeless bodies is haggled over.

Just :censored: it yourself first as the film will stand a couple of run throughs.

Its amazing how sex is so taboo but hey lets rip people's heads off with swords and basically kick ass bigtime, what sort of message do youngsters get from this, because personally i think sex is fine and healthy and perhaps if it was discussed and shown more to youngsters we wouldn't have so many teenage pregnancies, i'm not saying sex in a film is going to teach a kid how to protect themselves from pregnancy i'm just saying its a bit sad that violence is considered ok but sex is taboo.

But not for a 13 year old girl.

The main reason for asking the question is because i don't want to be  if there is someone humping whilst i'm sitting beside my daughter watching the movie.

We see a car with the words "P*ssy wagon" written on it.

A hospital orderly brings in another man to have sex with the presumably comatose Black Mamba (although she's now just faking it). The orderly says, "$75 a ****," comments on the guy getting "your freak on," and tells the man that since her "plumbing doesn't work down there," that he can "come in her all you want." He then gives the man some Vaseline and comments on lubing her up with that due to dryness down there. The orderly leaves and the man then crawls on top of Black Mamba, but she bites into his tongue (and apparently kills him off screen). Later, a comment is made, "My name's Buck, I'm here to ****."
We see an animated version of O-Ren Ishii (age 11) getting revenge on the man who killed her parents. He's noted as being a pedophile (which is how she apparently got to be with him) but she stabs down into him with a large blade, killing him.
In a flashback, a young Go Go asks a guy, "Do you want to screw me?" He nods yes, but she stabs and kills him instead. She then asks whether he still wants to "penetrate me?"
The camera briefly focuses on Black Mamba's clothed butt as she walks away from the camera.

She'll not be watching it then.

Think it goes to show that this film is rated 18 for a very good reason :nono:

18 for VERY good reason..! Also one of the worst films I've ever seen...

the kid proberley knows more swearwords and other adult things than we do

It's not about swearing or the amount of on screen violence. It's about context. Bottom line is there is a storyline which centres on selling the sexual services of a a comatose patient. Although this is handled well by Tarantino, the whole plot, dialogue and general tone of this aspect of the film is rather unpleasant. Possibly due to the fact that part of your brain considers there are back waters in the world were this may well happen

Yes, I sure there are lots of young people that have a choice vocabulary of words, but what they do not readily have is the alleged wisdom that age brings. Which is why this film has been correctly rated at 18, so that such plotlines are not exposed to a section of the audience who may with the benefit or their teenage mindset, find such things as amusing or worse still an acceptable manner of behaviour.

And before everyone pounces on that last statement, reflect on some of the crimes and offences that are carried out by sections of our nations youth, specifically in the area of sex crime.

I think the bottom line is that no "18" rated film is suitable for a 13 year old. Most "15" films are questionable, but if I had a 13 year old I wouldn't want her to watch it. At least so she can't practice any "move" out on her dad later :)

Agree with both of the above posts tbh:)

i thought i was alone in thinking the same thing  the film is absolute shat:thumbsdow

The 'I'm buck I'm here to f***' stuff I found pretty distasteful, especially as the container of 'vasolube' has odd brown stains on it. For that alone I wouldn't recommend it for anyone under 18.

Im not sure but I dont think he mentions "worse" in the same context as crap movie but its the worse movies for violence.

cant be the worst movie, ive seen other movies much worse than this, but each to thwier own i guess.

i have no worries letting my 12yo watching edited parts of this movie.

all our media is censored by big brother, movies/ads et and we all go to great lengths to get that release with the extra scene in it of gratutious violence.

even censors have different opinions and a movie released here may be half an hour shorter than released elsewhere.

so the ideals of allowing your kids to watch a movie thats restricted for their viewing is alreadybased 0n what someone else thinks we should/should not see.

there is obviously a big difference from disney and a qt movie and if your 12yo has only ever watched disney then they gonna be in fr a big shock and should stick to disney channels.

it sometimes sickens me at some stuff i have watched, ie baised moi, that you know your kids are gonna watch sooner or later regardless of censorship.

you have to watch the movie first and then decide if its suitable for your kids to watch based upon what you think is suitable, no one knows your kids better than you.

to suggest that a certain sex scene and others like it, are responsible for sex crimes by teenagers may have some credit but is in my opinion absurd, let them watch the news for that.

flame suit at the ready

Well thanks for all the replies folks i watched half of this last night(was interrupted) and i am glad i didn't let my daughter watch it as i feel it was too coarse.

I feel that in many ways, you are all right in your oppinions.
I was allowed to watch anything I wanted except pornography from a very early age. I like to think I wasn't affected in any way, because I have a healthy dislike for real world violence, and pointless swearing etc. But I also know that everyone is different. Another child could decide that violence is the only way to solve a problem, and grow into a very different kind of person.
Therefore every parent should make an individual choice as to whether they feel adult films would affect their son or daughter.

I remember I watched 'Terminator' when I was about 9 and i don't think I ever ran home so fast from a mate's house in my entire life. It gave me nightmares for weeks.

Obiwan, I'm not saying that such acts in films cause sex crime. My point is that such material shouldn't not be made avialble to all. But it does further adds to a culture where reprehensible behaviour is considered being acceptable. We all accept that most monsters are made in the home, but I see no reason to make material that my be interpretted incorrectly, by certain people, more accessible than it needs to be.

You have to remember that strong depictions and criticsims of certain mindesets and cultures, are often embraced by those the material most seeks to satirise. IE Loadsa Money, Alf Garnett etc.

I hope this clarifies my point and again would like to state that films and TV cannot be blamed as the cause of sex crimes etc.

Hi,

Whilst I am happy for adults to be allowed to watch anything, providing it is consensual, I have to question whether ANY parent who thinks that it might be okay to let their young teenager see any 18 certificate film.

Okay, now I appreciate that parental responsibility is a big issue, and it's also open-ended. Everyone has their own opinion about what we should or should not let children (under 18's in this case) view. However, I do feel that Tarantino's works simply aren't meant for youngsters, because they will probably not have gained the maturity to contextualise what is in the film.

With "Reservoir Dogs", it was the context of relentless violence, as well as personalised violence (like the officer who has his ear sliced off, after having gasoline poured all over him). With "Pulp Fiction", there was the glamorisation of drugs and the overt racism. With "Natural Born Killers", it was the idea that violence is cool and merits attention from people, as something to aspire to.

In each of these films, adults can and should be able to contextualise what Tarantino is saying or implying. With teenagers, especially the average 13-year old, I can't see how letting them watch "Kill Bill" with or without parental accompanyment, that they are going to be able to contextualise any of it! After all, the film deals with a woman who was brutall shot to death on her wedding day; survives that, albeit with a metal plate in her head; has sexual abuse (as mentioned in a previous posting) forced upon her in a hospital; steals a car called the "P*ssy Wagon", and then decides that revenge is the best way of solving a problem. I know, that's a giant generalisation of the film, but would the 13-year old really fully comprehend what the anime section of the film was saying?

Ultimately, I can understand a parent willing to let a 13-year old see a 15 in some cases, but not an 18 certificate film!

Just my opinion, though...
