    ??

I was under the impression that it was to be cut down to 88 minutes in an homage to the butchered version of 'Once upon a time in America'.
I know originally he wanted it to be that length.

I think that this is a film that actually works better as 2 separate films, especially with the change of pace from the end of v1 and then the opening hour of v2, which slowly builds up to her exchange with the michael madsen character.
I've not read any reviews yet from the screening at cannes so i might be totally wrong.
I wonder if the two combined will be the version that has all the extra features on it?

I have to say I think the complete opposite. I personally enjoyed both films but always thought of them as one film with an annoying break between the two. I think it would have had far more favourable reviews in general had it been one epic movie. The pacing would have been better for it and the reveal of the daughter would have had far more effect had it not been for the spoiler at the end of vol 1. I think if it had been 1 movie, some tight editing and some jigging around of scenes would have ended up with it being far better.

Volume 1 had all the excellent fight scenes but was lacking in plot and dialogue. Vol 2 was the opposite. So for me each film on it's own felt lacking. But as one long movie I thought it was excellent.

In fact it's because of this I've forced myself to hold off from buying any version of kill bill (jap included) and to wait for the joined cut on dvd (which I believe won't simply be the two films stuck together).

No. That's the irony. It will probably still be over two discs!

Very interesting artical, cheers Tardis

I'm even more glad now that I chose to wait untill the combined vol.1 and vol.2 boxset is released now that it seems that they will be edited slightly to combine them together and make it one movie (even if it is "ironically" spread over two discs, that never bothered me about Godfather II or Schindler's List) :smashin:

    Regards,
    Iain.
