Kids friendly media player

Planning long haul journey with the family and everyone say you need to get a portable dvd player. I'm not keen on carrying around dvd discs so can anyone recommend a portable media player which is toddler friendly?

- Battery life should be good
- Shook proof
- Touch screen might be best ..

Any tips?
