Has anyone with an ibook G4 suffered with this...seems like a few people have in other forums?

Seems like its a airport card - logic board fault...Is there anyone who
nos about this and a way around it without having to shell £600 plus for
    a new board??

Isn't the Airport module on a daughterboard? I thought I'd seen them for sale somewhere?

Have a look here for info on how to remove the airport card from an iBook G4, it's very simple (basically remove the battery and power cord, remove the keyboard, pull out the card)

Boot up and double-check and see if you get a Kernel panic, ok, bit difficult to check for sure as you can't turn on airport with the card removed. Anyway, power down, pop the airport card back in, power up, see if the KP comes back, if it does then it does tell us something. What you'd then need to do is find someone with an airport card, pull out yours, pop in theirs and see if you still get the problem, if not, then it's probable it's just the airport card, in which case you can purchase a new one and be ok

Thanks for website..good link but the pics are slightly diff from my ibook...mine as the ram slot only where, the airport card is in a different place on mine (not under keyboard) so it would mean a high risk for my skills at tackling to strip it down.
I will take it to the apple shop tom they said they would have a quick look
    for no charge?

    Thanks again for your help
