What an absolute plonker, to say that I’m gutted is an understatement.

So, I drove away a beautiful example of a 320i M Sport Shadow Edition on Wednesday last week. Alpine white and looks the NUTS. Go shopping on Saturday and was distracted by some issues with the parking barrier on exit of the multi storey and didn’t notice the raised kerb bending inward towards the car on exit. Cue me scuffing the shiz of my 19” alloy and spending the rest of the day just being a very quiet individual.

Took the car to a local alloy specialist today and they have said it can’t even be repaired as they can tell all four alloys have had relatively poor smart repairs carried out on them already. From their POV, I either need to have it out with the BMW dealer for selling the car with poorly refurbed wheels, or I’m looking at buying a new wheel altogether at around £680 😭

Personally I don’t think BMW will say much other than try to sell me a new wheel at RRP and am pending a response from the salesman I worked with (as the service dept weren’t interested).

I’ve had a look around for some 704M wheels and they are pricey beasts. The more I think of it the more that’s likely the road I’ll need to go down.

So mad at myself for it!

(Just to be clear, I’d happily pay for a repair if that were possible!)

Assume there diamond cut, the problem with diamond cut wheels, there a pain to repair properly. I'd look at getting them all done in a solid colour.

Yeah they are indeed diamond cut. Do you mean have them painted in a solid colour? I’d give consideration to black or a very dark grey as that would match the accent of the wing mirrors and front grill etc.

Just get them all powder coated at the same time. Should be around £350-450 depending on location.

A proper refurb will repair any damage to the alloy via welding, then re profile the lip. I had some alloys done in BMW ferric grey before.

I hate the curbs where I live - had new BBS wheels fitted and was so careful - the front passenger one now has a few scuffs and I just have to live with the fact that it was inevitable around my way without a driveway and nice big parking bays.

I'm still super careful but it is difficult

Nearly any wheel even very badly damaged could be repaired.

Alternatively I found eBay for buying original bmw wheels from Germany very cost effective. Even following Brexit. I got four with brand new Michelin alpine winter tyres for the M2 for £1350.

most trade cars inc dealers use a 'paint' finish even on diamond cut, its a way of cocking it,

we use a company called rader international up at trafford park, last wheel we had done was £180 diamond cut plus 3 repairs,

I don’t understand why they say they can’t repair the wheel? A shoddy SMART repair is one thing but why can’t they make that good? If the wheel is so compromised - you say all 4(!) - I’d be having a very serious chat with the BMW dealer.

Ive spent most of today trying to get hold of them. If I don’t get a response today I’ll just pay a visit in person on Friday.

I feel the ops pain, a delivery driver did this to mine and did not stop

Had the car just over a month at the time

Received an email this evening advising that I should be getting a call from BMW Aftersales soon to have this looked at. Let’s see what they say.
