Kenwood VR-2080. Is it modded? and if so what does it do?

I recently got a Kenwood VR-2080 through craigslist, and as I often do with electronics, opened the case to clean accumulated dust out of it, After opening it I noticed 2 small pcb's on one of the main boards on top the numbers read j-70-1271-02n6 on one and x29-2640-10 on the other. Now the way that they are wired up they look alot like modifications of some type (wires soldered to pins on chips, others soldered to other surface mount components) Basically I'm trying to find out if they are indeed a modification of some type or if it actually came from the factory like that. Hopefully someone will know one way or another.. If they are mods, I'd really like to find out what exactly they do.
