I don't hear much about Kenwood on this board. Their KRF-Vx060 range boast impressive specifications for the price. Is there something I don't know about Kenwood?

I think Kenwood are rather looked down upon by many purely because they don't command mega output levels. I recently bought a KRFV 5050 for a snip of £143 from qed and am very satisfied.

Certainly if you have money to spend then Yamaha, denon, Marantz, arcam are the way to go but for, if not budget then perhaps economical systems, Kenwood are more than adequate.

I suppose if you've got a budget of over £400 then look elsewhere. I put together a decent system for £300

    Kenwood KRFV 5050 £143 (Qed)
Gale Gold Monitors (Fronts) £69 (Richer)
Celestion FC35 (Centre) £49 (Richer with part ex)
    Wharfedale Modus (Rears) £39 (Superfi)

All work very well together and don't overtax my dear ol' Sammy 709, providing more than a decent bang for your buck. Perhaps music playback could be more profound but still provides good fidelity.

As long as you know what you're buying into Kenwood are probably the best 'lower end' manufacturer around.
