Question KEF T205 Opinions

Hi Guys and Girls
I currently have a Q Acoustics 3050i speaker setup(I swapped out the subwoofer for a BK XLS200-DF)
Space has now become a problem(wife) so I need to change to something smaller.
I have been looking at the KEF T205 5.1 package and was wondering if it is any good.
Has anyone performed a similar downgrade and have opinions they can share or alternatives they can offer?
Many Thanks

Very wife friendly are the T Serie. They are better performers than the old KEF Eggs which were no slouches for their size. The design works best when fitted to the wall. I don't think you'll be too disappointed with how they sound but may not be as full as you get with the QAs and you would need to time to adjust.

You will have to do one of those lists of pros and cons of the QAs and your wife. Which ever list wins that's the one you keep.;)

I dipped my toe in with 3 x KEF T301 for front left and centre to replace my Orbs that have served me well . Very impressed with sound created and very partner friendly as well.

I might have a couple of the stands off you if I get these speakers

Do the speakers have any bass response without the sub?

You certainly need a Sub to aid the speakers...i had the Kef T 2 sub that came with the speakers, but gave up the Ghost a few years back, i purchased a BK Gemini 2 and it integrates really well...the speakers do have a better response if wall mounted, but also work really well on the dedicated T series stands.

You will need a sub. There is so little carcass to the speakers for any real bass to develop. Don't get the KEF sub go for a specialist company such as BK or REL. The T5i would make a good match.

I saw a package deal for the t205 5.1 speakers with a denon x2600h receiver for £1500 here.
I already have the denon x2600h so could sell that and the sub and use my BK XLS200 instead

Call to PT and ask can they offer the bundle deal without the sub. It should be possible and recommended cause you are going to struggle to sell the T2 sub. Also tell about the homeavdirect bundle deal so they can give you as good deal with cables.. They get X2600H back on stock 28.8. You also get 3year warranty as normally 2years in UK!

OK so PT have quoted £949 for the 5 kef speakers. Now I have a decision to make!!!

Klipsch are still fairly new to the UK market but their reputation for building good quality and easy to drive speakers has been noted on many occasions. I would certainly suggest that you audition them yourself as I don't know of any members using these particular Klipsch.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be anywhere near me where I could listen to them.
My thinking was that as they are a bit bigger than the Kefs they might be less of a downgrade from my current speakers.

OK another idea, Kef Q550's for fronts, T301C for centre and t101's for rears.
Would these all match up OK?

I've not got the experience of a downgrade but currently have the KEF T105 with the T301c centre. They sound great with my Denon x2600.
I've also tried both the KEF T2 sub and a PSB Subseries 250 and they both sound good.

I've currently got them for sale in the classifieds. I've got absolutely no reason for a change but couldn't help myself!! 😁
