Hi,

I have a KEF T2 subwoofer and I am wondering if I can feed it a stereo signal with the help of an RCA splitter. The T2 has only one line level RCA input intended for use with an LFE / subwoofer output from an AV receiver.

Thus: preamp outputs left and right channel -> RCA splitter -> KEF T2 single RCA input

Will this work?

This should be OK, but just bear in mind you are shorting out the left and right signals. Ideally you would use a summing mixer - which has a resistor between each signal line to reduce any signal interaction.

If when you plug it in your main speakers suffer any form of loss of imaging - IE they start to sound like they are in mono, you will need a summing mixer, but if the outputs are well enough isolated and there's no change in the main audio, then no drama and you can carry on.

I just tried it with a minidsp 2x4HD in between routing the two low frequency outputs to the sub, works flawless. Another T2 is on it´s way but I couldn´t resist to try it out. :)

Thanks for the answers.
