As I get encouraged to move to in wall speakers I put up for sale the first two pairs of speakers:

Kef R50 (SOLD) - upfiring atmos speakers designed to stand on the front L & R and reflect the sound from the ceiling. Worked very well in our old flat! Kept with the grill on at all times, piano black gloss finish with no known issues. Originally £600 and looking for £400 for the pair exc delivery. Can include a short run of QED silver anniversary micro cable if it helps.

Kef R800ds - side/rear dipole in piano black gloss, grills available but I havent used them most the time. Originally £999 in price. The screw entry plates used to hand on the wall were enlarged slightly (entry hole only) as were too small for the screws we were recommended for supporting their 7.5kg weight. One speaker did take a minor bump when moving home so has a small amount of cosmetic damage on one corner and a modest depression in one driver (picture available if it’d be helpful) but neither has seriously detracted from the asthetic aspect and no noticeable impact on sonics. £750 exc delivery.

Both pairs of speakers have been kept in a smoke and child free household (no little fingers prodding drivers) and given their roles have never been pushed hard. I would prefer collection (London SE16 or City) but can do postage at cost if preferred and time given to find appropriate boxes.

Sorry for the delay @rydski photos below... unfortunately high gloss finish hard to photograph nicely but you can see the overall condition and the couple of points of damage.

the damage in the final image is mainly the bottom corner and a small amount on the top corner... the white line along the edge is a reflection rather than damage.

Let me know if you are interested else they will go up onto a certain auction site.

Hi,

Hope you're doing well.
It's Marco and I am writing from Italy.

Have kept an eye on your listing for the KEF R50.
Straight to the point, I have a few questions:
1) do they come with keyholes?
2) do they come with all of the original packaging?
3) when did you purchase them and from where?
4) is the price negotiable?

As I have these questions, I thought to send you a direct message before make it public on your thread and tell I am going to buy them.

Let me know please.

Thanks
@m4rco messages relating to classifieds should be kept on the open forum until the sale is agreed at which point we then switch to private messaging

To answer your questions:

1) No, the R50 didnt come with keyholes, they were intended to sit on top of your L & R speakers

2) I don’t have the original packaging

3) They were bought from SuperFi London on 4 May 2017 but have been boxed and unused since we moved house at the start of September 2018 as we bought our home and could then cut holes in the ceiling

4) Make me an offer and we will see, though most sell on a famous auction site for around this figure

Okay. I am looking for two pairs so you might see me having posted in another thread as well.
I need to finalize my decision - need to double check dimensions shall I decide to go for side surrounds on speaker stands (and R50s on top) as opposite to side surround wall mounted.
Please could you hold me in the queue for a day or two?
KEF provides 5 years of warranty albeit to the first owner only. Any chance you still have a copy of the receipt?
I am guessing there is no visual damage to the speakers, is there? Any scratch?
Thanks

I purchased them over the phone as a bundle with my Arcam AVR and some others bits and checking my email I do still have the receipt.... its how I managed to get an exact date for the purchase. Delivery was a week or two later from memory because it included setting up the Arcam’s DIRAC as part of the deal and they had to schedule that in.

I will double check tonight but I am 99.9% sure that there are no areas of damage on the speakers.

Where did you install the R800ds? Did you hang them on the wall or do you have stands for them?

@mukhtarmyusuf I’m not sure what you mean by “where” did I install them?

I had them hung on the wall hence the entry point for the keyholes were enlarged slightly as it was a dot & dab wall and the screws I had to span the void‘s head were slightly too large to fit in the original entry holes.

Our previous landlord was fairly reasonable with wall mounting things etc as long as we agreed to repair the damage when we left. Beyond the difficulty in repairing a ceiling we also had in ceiling heating which was another reason for the R50s rather than in ceiling speakers.

Thank you for the pic’s £400 is a bit more than I was expecting. On the third picture down it looks like two marks, but I cannot tell if it’s just the lighting.

They routinely go for around that on a certain auction site. I’ll consider counter offers but it’ll need to be in that ballpark.

I suspect anything in the third photo is either lighting or from the fact the grills haven’t been taken off in over 2 years so under the grill is cleaner than the rest of the speaker. If you’re talking about the two circles, they are ceiling light reflecting.

@Jabwylie fees for paypal depend on how you do the transfer... if its set up as a transfer to friends/family etc then you are correct its fee free however if you say its to pay for a sale, and therefore you get PayPal’s “buyer protection”, there is a 2.9% fee (see PayPal Merchant Fees - Seller Fees | PayPal UK) which is deducted from what I receive.
