    I am thinking of buying some speakers, the problem is that i want to fit them in a 20cm gap in the living room between some storage units, and would prefer them in either white or silver. So, i think i have come to the following options:

    1) KEF IQ5 £399 (walnut) and forget the colour issue;
    2) KEF Q4's in silver, mint condition in silver for £200.

    My question: What is the difference between them, i am sure there must be some IQ5 owners that had the Q4's. Any thoughts on the price at £200.

    The iQ5's will sound better no question, but the q4's are half the price which is a big incentive.
    Personally I think the walnut they do is the nicest speaker colour I've ever seen. If only they did the subs to match but they only do subs in black and apple I think.

    Personally the best advice is to try and go listen to both and decide if the improvement in sound is worth the colour change and £200

    Okay boys,

    I went for the Q4's at £200 and in silver, (not sure if it a good deal) but at the end of the day the alternative was £400. Anyway, as you can tell i am a bit slow on the Hi-fi stuff, so your help is appreciated, in advance.

    My Rotel Amp says, at the back of the amp:

    Direct and Remote = 8 ohms
    Direct or Remote = 4 ohms

    And my Q4's speakers say they are 8 ohms?

    my local Hifi shop said that i should bi-wired my speakers currently with 4 bananas at the speaker end and 2 bananas at the amp end to each speaker, so i am sure it is correct but i am not sure about all this ohms business.

    your shop is right, and the speaker load(ohms) will be fine, ive used all sorts of speakers on both sets of outputs on my rotel and never had any issues.

    just an asside, and i will be posting this again elsewhere, i cannot praise Kef Customer service enough, only last week i bought some iQ1's, but within 3 days - when i was listening without the covers - my daughter poked in the tweeter silver dome, ruined the look completely.. i phone Kef Customer Service and explained truthfully what happened and they have replaced the unit free, under warranty.:thumbsup: :clap:

    Thanks Janjos for the reassurance. My system is working well, and happy for the moment with the sound. Lastly, i have these foam bung that go ein the front ports, any Q4 users have any experimental information on using them. Testing them currently, when time allows.

    My experience of KEF customer service was great too, Kenloen you are a luckly man.

    Heh, mine was gone 10 days, after owning it 3 weeks.... I'm not happy with Kef at all, the still havent replied to 2 of my E-mails either. (the time in the shop could be down to the shop more than Kef to be fair)
