I'm trying to buy a Q95C.2 centre speaker, I've seen one going for second hand at a good price, but I've no idea how you tell them apart from the original Q95C?

Appartently there is nothing on the speaker that says "point 2" but I've heard you can tell by the writing on the front of the speaker under the grill. I was under the impression that the 95.2 has writing on both sides with the "Kef Q 95c" logo on the left and "Centre Channel Speaker" on the right and that the original 95.1 has "Kef Q95C Centre Channel Speaker" on the left with nothing on the right.

However the speaker I have seen has "KEF Q Series" on the left and "Magnetically Shielded" on the right, so I am back to square one! The backplate reads kef q95c, sp3261, 105944b

Has anyone got any advice how I tell them apart? I would be grateful of a quick response so I don't miss out on the speaker!

    Thanks in advance...

Can no one help with this :(

I don't want to keep the guy waiting too long and I can't find anything about this on the internet.

Come on KEF owners you must know what a point 2 looks like?

Would it help if I attached a picture of the front of it? Here take a look, is it a point 1 or a point 2

As I said time is of the essence because it is a private seller, and if it does turn out to be a point 2 and I miss it I'll be so disappointed :suicide:

Which is it? I'm confused

The IMG tags don't work properly

I could be wrong but I think the original Q Series didn't have dual terminals for bi-wiring/bi-amping, they appeared on the .2 series (apart from the Q85).

    Thanks very much :D

I knew there had to be a KEF representative somewhere on a forum this big

But what a shame it turned out to be a point 1, as that is not compatible with my system :( oh well I'm sure one will turn up sooner or later...

    Thanks again Ben :smashin:

I thought it would be better to have the point 2 as my other speakers are from that range?

I was also told that the point 1 was 4 ohms and the point 2 was 8 ohms? Because I don't think my Receiver works with 4 ohm speakers?

What is the 100 model? Is that a Uni-Q speaker?

Go for the Model 100. It sounds MUCH better than the Q95 centre... more natural, sounds better at higher volumes.

The Q95 sounds harsh, and starts to sound compressed at higher volumes (and I'm not talking reference level here, quite low actually)

My brother has a Q95, I have a Model 200 and I have heard a Model 100 going.. similar to my 200 except in the bass region.

    Mine must be a Q95c.2 - should I look at the Q9c?

Though my centre is perfectly capable and clear I think I'd prefer a more authoratative and fuller sound.
