Going for a demo of the Kef Q350's vs Elac Uni-fb5.
My dilemma is that if I prefer the Q350's, upgrading to 5.1 will be a no go because 1, the Q650c is too wide, and 2, Kef won't sell an individual Q350.
Would the previous model Q200c be OK, even though the drivers are slightly different?
    Thanks,
    Ian.

Drop KEF customer services an e-mail and ask that very question that way you will get a definitive answer. Not much more expensive than a Q350/650 combination you could get three LS50s. KEF do sell individual LS50s as it has been designd to be layed on it's side for use as a centre. I run an R200C with R300s.

I rang Kef sales team and got an abrupt "no". The LS is a little out of my price range unfortunately. Will the Q200c not be OK?

imo, the short answer is that it would be fine. The new q range are said to be better than the previous models but not as good as their r range so will not be totally different and the tonal signature would be very similar.

KEf make the speakers and know what's best obviously; however I was in a similar situation and could not for the love of money get the r200 in my set up due to size. I use a ls50 and although kef say this is not ideal (which it's not) it still works great and does not at all sound out of place tonally alongside my r500's. Actually the sound stage provided by my lcr is amazing due to the uniQ and the q200 would yield similar results imo

To be pedantic a Q200C will probably not match the new Q350s. Will you notice it? I doubt very much as the KEF signature of the UniQs stays very true to the original sound. At £149 it will make for an excellent centre.

Best scenario would have been to use third Q350 as center horizontally. I am suprised KEF didn`t see this as opportunity. Using three identical speakers in the front stage would be quite superior. People who has done this, won`t usually go back.. But it still wouldn´t hurt to ask some dealers, which can decide their own what they sell. I have heard it done many times with other brand speakers.

Maybe David would sell you third Q350? :) @the little audio company

I will certainly ask my dealer (Stone Audio) if they can get me a single Q350.
    Thanks.

Great. If they can`t and you like Kef Q best, it`s worth to ask around other dealers. I still remember one dealer did this with one brand and it was very popular cause of that. Some might think it a little risk, but then again if the word is getting spread around it might be great for business cause Q650C is probably too large for most people.

David came to mind first cause he has used what i remember 5x R300 and 5xLS50 on he`s own cinema room, and naturally he sells the Q-serie: the little audio company / hi-fi and home cinema in Birmingham

How about 3 q200s? I have used 3 tannoy centres (2 are currently being used as rears).
