Does anyone know the +Vcc and -Vcc levels of the power supply unit. The readings that I have without load is +53.5v and -75.6v. I have read that the SMPS is known to fail. Does anyone know with what faulty components?

Nominally +/-52v so if you are getting -75.6v there is something wrong there.
There are no details of the SMPS module unfortunately.
Service manual is here if its any help.

Some SMPSU's need a small load to work. Could that be the problem?

Thanks for the reply Frank. Having now opened SMPSU it is printed on the circuit board +53v and -53v. I have noticed that the + Rail capacitor C11 (CE 63V 1000uF) disapates within 2 minutes where as the - Rail C12 keeps its charge. I am assuming that I have a open path to a natural load within the circuit. I am too much of an ammature to find it. Do you fancy a go?
