Am considering buying a KEF PSW 3500 sub woofer, however, I've read on the internet that the built in amp of this subwoofer is somewhat unreliable and malfunctions frequently.

    Any comments regarding this matter?

Amplifier reliabilility is an important consideration for me.

Also, any views regarding the JAMO D4 subwoofer as an alternative to the KEF?

When this one came out, I spoke to KEF support and was told that the PSW3500 uses a completely new amplifer and psu.
The older PSW2000 subs had a few relay issues, but I don't think the PSW3500 will be unreliable.

I have a PSW3000 that I bought cheap from Hyperfi and its worked faultlessly for over two years.

    PSW3500 can only be better.

Buy a proper subwoofer from a company that knows how to make subwoofers.

    REL
    SVS
    BK Elec
    MJ Acoustics
    M&K

My kef 2500s just bit the dust dont know why its never overdriven as i live in a flat so cant go too mad.Just took amp out and sent it back to kef as told ,but its a bit of a bugger if the amps cant be relied upon.Ive only just found out that there seems to be a problem as mines worked and sounded great for 18 months and i own other kef speakers and never had a problem ,they sound good and look good, but any more problems and i reckon REL or SVS will be getting a call.Cheers Glenby.
