Ok, so I just got some Kef Eggs, and I'm connecting them to my Marantz SR7300, in the speaker setup, do I need to set them as large or small speakers?

    Thanks

    Oakey,
How do they sound? Are you happy with music capabilities as well as film?
I'm considering buying the new eggs and am just checking user opinions.
    Cheers
    J

Haven't reallt tested them out, sod's law dictated me to have a headache :(

Tried a few DVD's, Saving Private Ryan, MI2, and a few others, sounds good so far for movies. Shall try out music later.

Would the Kef egg package be a good upgrade for my following:

    Mordaunt Short MS25I Pearl floorstanders
    Kef ?? Speech speaker
    Mission 73 rear speakers
    Gale 50 Sub

looking for something a but more wife friendly!

My MS are quite big...do you lose anything going to a smaller speaker? Can the eggs be wall mounted of do you need stands?

I've got 7 KEF 2005.2's, with the sub. Other kit that I use it with is listed below. Describing the performance is simple......"AWSOME".

I'm quite happy with my 2005.2 Eggs and sub :) The centre does seem to be lacking at times, but I think this is also partly due to the generally ropey sound coming from my DVD player.

The Eggs can be wall mounted. The base has two little slots in them. You put a coupe of screws in the wall, and then slide the speakers onto them. Easy peasy.

    Stands are available as well.

1st question.... Not in my opinion. Small speaker, but big sound.
2nd question... Either. Can be wall mounted, or KEF stands can be purchased.

    Bursar,
What kind of DVD player are you using? Have you tried a different source to test and see if it's the eggs or the player at fault? Just interested, as I'm looking to possibly get the eggs myself, and have seen this as an intermitant gripe with egg owners. Thanks for your thoughts.
    Jim
Oh - there are a few threads on eggs discussing their set up in the forum archives - have you tried the suggestions in them to see if you can get a better sound out of the centre?

It's a Tosh 330. I haven't really been happy with the sound since I got it. It's the same through my TV as well. The sound is really muted and playing with the audio modes doesn't help much.

When I listen to the radio through the Denon 1803 the Eggs sound great.

I've got an optical out sound card on the way as well, so I'll be able to play DVDs via the PC and I'll see what's that's like. I suspect in sound terms it will be quite a way in front of the the 330.

IMO... A bit like comparing Leeds United to Chelsea, at the moment.

I would say next season when they are not in the same league would be a better comparison :smashin:
Regards the mark one's the new eggs have been tweaked and do sound better but it's the sub that lifts the performance of the new package far beyond the originals.
