    Hi

I need to replace my old yamaha AV57 system as it will not fit into the new cabinet.

I am looking at a Cambridge Audio Azur 340R and a set of Kef KHT1005-2-BLACK for around £530

I use the system for Sky HD and PS3 as well as listen to music via an ipod classic

Is there a better system available for £500ish

The amp cannot be taller than 130mmdue to the furniture and I don't want big floorspeakers

Any opinions from more experienced members would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers

    Dave

You could beat that setup but not for size. The CA Azur range is, if not thee slimmest, one of the slimmest AV's out there. And to fit in the space you mention, it will be hard to beat and with 3 cm breathing space left available i hope that it is an open back cabinet so that it don't over heat.

    Cheers Don

I pretty much thought that a CA ampp was the way to go...

What do you think about the speaker choice?

They have good reviews and seem up to the job but i never had the pleasure of hearing them so i cant comment on their performance. And many people have them on this forum so they must be saying something.
They probably wont compete with floorstanders and bigger bookshelf speakers for music performance but I'm sure they do well with films.
If you can get a demo then do so and let your ears decide.

I have the KEF 1005s and love them. As the previous poster said (and is spot on) they won't compete with floorstanders but for the price range, the style of the speakers, the space they take up and the performance ... a lot of people would agree that they don't come much better than the KEFs .... :smashin:

I had a good demo of mine before purchase - most shops will be happy to accomodate you if you're a serious purchaser ... do some research before you go and arrive at the shop with some discs you are familiar with to have a play. Also, get a comparison price to bargain with too ....

That i know. LOL!! (no offense intended)

Anyhoo, as we both said, distinguish or not, try and get a demo and then decide. You might want to demo against another brand with a similar setup and price to really confirm your choice.

    All the best:thumbsup:

I have also seen Jamo A102HCS5 speaker system....

The size of these is really appealling.

    Do you have any thoughts?
