If you search these forums Nic Rhodes has done a review on the Gallo wunderballs, I asked him the same question, the answer? the Balls we're way better than the Eggs!

Although they should be really they're a good 600 more expensive!

thanks for the reply planbeta.i have already read that post,i was
hoping that somebody here had demoed both at the same time and could give me another point of view.i am just not sure if either of these speaker packages would be good enough for the rotel combo that i will soon have.

Your amp will handle better but are you constricted by price and size.

Not being rude to anyone else but if Nic says that balls are better than eggs, I for one wouldn't bother with a second opinion.

to be honest space for these speakers is more of a problem
than price.i need small speakers and i know that these speakers will be the best that i can do.i also dont want to spend a lot of
money on a pre amp if the speakers are not up to the job.

If you must have such small speakers both the Kef and Gallo are well worth considering but they will be the weak link in your proposed setup.

Even if you can move up to small bookshelf speakers like the KEF Q1 you will be moving up a step in the sound quality stakes.

I too have read all the Gallo stuff here (and the speakers do seem wonderful) but they're much more expensive than the Kef Eggs...

But someone said somewhere that Kef are bringing out a MkII version of their Eggs imminently (I can't remember who or where!). Does anyone know when?

    Cheers,

    Chris

I have it from a reliable source that the mkIIs won't be out untill early next year.
The eggs are pretty good for the money though. Not overly detailed compared to some, but easy to listen to for long periods. If they do have a limiting factor as a package it is probably with the sub - but the eggs are available on their own.

JM Labs have just brought out a cute package though which might be worth a look at around the same price I think.

Next year huh? Well, I'm far too impatient and immature to wait that long...

I'll have to get the current eggs - or the JM's perhaps - before that.

    Thanks for the info. Mickey,

    Chris
