    Hi all..

Just wondering if there are any shops in London, preferably the west end that sell the Kef eggs package for £600... i know several online deliverers who do (though i thought you were'nt supposed to deliver these?) but looking to pick some up possibly tomorrow. The 2 shops on Tottenham Court Road that i tried quoted £800.

    Thanks.

And why is there a 3 second delay between typing and character appearing.. it makes typing and correction very frustrating!?

    Jabber,

You cannot in theory purchase any KEF product on-line , there are a few on the net @ 599.99 but not with the 5 year KEF warranty.

Go to www.kef.com the have a list of authorised dealers there :)

Thanks.. that's helped me find several outlets near my flat. However i was of the impression that authorized dealers will charge £800ish.... is that right? So if i want to save that £200 (and lose the warranty) i have to buy them from the 'net?

they are doing a deal with good quality speeker cable and sub cable for £ about £799 but i asked for the price without and rec'd this mail i then called sevenoaks sound and vision in leeds and they price matched (well £600)
authorised dealers wont post them but you can collect them from telford for £599 if you dont mind a 250 mile trip

Yup, i was on the phone to them yesterday. It's so frustrating... they do a great deal on the speakers and the amp that i want (Yamaha 750) and all cables.. but they won't deliver! Or they will if i visit shop and pay in person. Thing is i can get the equipment for the same price by deleivery, but annoyingly from 3 different sources. It's just not worth the day out of my life and the (no doubt) expensive train fare.

    grrr.

I have just bought the Kef eggs from soundandvision. As I live in cheshire I went to the shop to pick them up and paid £650.

Hyperfi are selling these at £499.99 !!!! Online.

I checked with Domestic & General about a warranty and was quoted £78 for 5 Years warranty. Do the sums, buy them online and take out the warranty via Dom Gen and use the extra loot to buy QED silver cable

Wish I had waited till I got home and bought them from Hyperfi

But after hearing them in the showroom, they had to come home with me!!!

    Hope that helps

    @£499.99 online ???

must be the old mk1 2005 as this is now been discontinued with the much improved 2005 mk2

Only discontinued products are 4sale via the net via KEF's trading policy

pay the xtra and go go the 2005.2 's they will sound sooooooooooo much better

Hyperfi are selling these at £499.99!!!! Online?

A cynic would say that the KEF policy "does not authorize there dealers to sell via the net" is so that they can keep there prices ramped up! Wash my mouth out with soap and water.

    Can’t find them on http://www.hyperfi.co.uk

Only place I found that sell them at "£599.99 Delivered" is http://www.play.com and they are waiting for delivery.

Anybody know of any other sites?

    Thanks
    Zama

Do yourself a favour and spend the £799. Some retailers will chuck in 30m of QED S.A, and a nice QED sub cable worth £200 anyway.

Thanks for the feedback guys, though I'm not sure that I agree that quality should stop them being sold online.

I had only budgeted £400 for speakers, so £600 was well over what I had planned, but I thought I would go for it and worry about the credit card later:), but there is no way I can afford £800.

    Thanks again

Unbeatable are selling these for about £599.
However, I was thinking about getting the KEFs too to go with the Yamaha DSP750 amp. I had a demo of these and thought they were great. A few days later I had a demo of the Canton CD speaker range and these were better than the KEFs which sounded strained when pushed with high volumes. However, the Cantons were excellent all round. Seriously consider these instead of the KEFs which have brilliant reviews but weaknesses.
