Kef Egg Rear Speaker Hum/Noise

I hope someone can give me some advice, I have recently purchased the Kef 2005.2 speaker system which i am very impressed with, however, there is a small problem with a humming sound coming from the rear speakers. It's not so noticeable when i've got a dvd on, but if I'm watching tv and there aren't any rear effects it becomes more apparent. The speakers are connected to a Yamaha dsp 592 amp, which I will be upgrading soon, could this be the problem, or is it the cable that i'm using (although this is fine for the front/centre)?? Any thoughts would be really appreciated, thanks

Hi hallgan, :hiya:

Does the humming come only from the rear speakers ?
How do u run the speaker cable?

Try exchanging 1 front speaker to the rear and ear if the humming continuos.

It may be interference from power wires, unshielded cables or RF sources/receivers that run along or close to the speaker wires.

A different kind of problem ocurs when u plug the AV and dvd player to different sockets, u still ear the hum but its caused by independent earth potential.

Both these problems appear even when not using the rear speakers. Hope this is useful :D
