I have just obtained from a friend (and yes, it did work, I've enjoyed many a movie at his house) a Kef Coda sub to go along with my 5 satelite speakers. I've turned on the sub in the Amp menu and have described my main speakers as small so the sub handles their bass as well. Whilst watching R1 BTTF and R4 Ice Age recently, the sub turned itself off after about 10 minutes and refused to come back on until I removed the audio lead and put it back in again. It doesn't come back on if there is a loud explosion on screen, so if its placed itself in a 'hibernation' state waiting to be called, this feature is not working. Nothing in the manual about this either. What's odd is that the first two films I watched worked fine throughout, R1 LOTR and R1 XMen 1.5. It's occured to me that these last two films were in DTS and the other two in DD only. Is this coincidence? Or do you think that something about DTS keeps the Sub active and awake, but DD is treated differently and somehow causes a powerdown? I will complete more comparisons at the weekend as I can't just pop a disk in to experience the problem but have to wait 10-15 minutes for the error. I guess it would be useful to establish if the Xmen and LOTR dosks do drop out when viewed in DD. Anyone encountered this problem before with DD and DTS? It's a shame I don't own more movies in DTS. Any solutions out there? Could the error be with my amp, or is it definetly a Sub issue? I've waited three years to get a sub, and now the bloody thing doesn't work properly.
