I've done a quick search and can't really find out exactly what I'm after.

What are the facts about keeping a plasma tv upright at all times?? Why is this so? And is it only for long stretches that it really matters?

On the instructions of my plasma stand it instructed me to lay the tv flat while putting the stand on, which I did, but I was dubious about doing this. Can this do it damage?

Hi Mate - they must be kept upright during transportation due to the fact that bumps etc will cause the screen to flex, and thus increase the change of damage / cracks etc.

Laying in down (gently) on a soft level surface (eg living room carpet) isn't likely to cause problems - however, upright is always the safest option to my mind.

It is really meant for transporting them, otherwise, so long as you careful with regards scratching the screen, laying it flat is not a problem at all.
