Hi - hope someone with more experience than me can give some advice!

I've got an LG DVD-3350E DVD player and a superb little player it has been too... acting as both DVD and CD player in my setup. Recently however whenever I've tried to put a CD in to play and close the disk drawer, it 'thinks' about it for a minute, before spitting out the disc with "disc error" showing in the display. It does this with all CDs, originals and CD-Rs. The discs are fine (they play on another machine fine).

After 10-20 attempts at loading/unloading a disc, it will sometimes 'accept' the CD and plays it okay - no problems at all. The only problem seems to be in 'recognising' the CD on first loading. The problem has got progressively worse. DVDs present no problem at all.

The player is now out of warranty and I'm about to open it up and see if there are any obvious faults (dirty lens) or something
similar I can sort out myself.

ANY suggestions/advice or help would be most welcome!

...If it helps... have just noticed a slight 'clunking' sound every 5-10 seconds while it 'thinks' about the disc.

Have you tried a dvd cleaner disk a few times?

I have found these to free up players in the past.

It could be a dirty lense, if not then it looks like it is fairly knackered.

    Thanks for the reply micb3rd.

As it turned out, yes, it WAS a dirty lens/pickup. Have cleaned it now with tape head cleaner and all is now working fine again!!!
    Am a happy bunny again...
if only I can figure out what is wrong with my VCR now...:D
