Anyone seen this film yet? The DVD is apparently already available from discemporium but I have to say, the synopsis really does make it sound like the most boring and dull film ever made:

"Oscar-winning screenwriter Stephen Gaghan (TRAFFIC) makes his directorial debut with ABANDON, a dense, moody psychological thriller. Loosely based on the book ADAM'S FALL by Sean Desmond, ABANDON tells the troubled story of Katie (Katie Holmes), a college senior who's having a tough time keeping herself focused. She is still struggling with memories of her boyfriend Embry (Charlie Hunnam), who disappeared two years earlier. Her past comes back to haunt her when recovering alcoholic detective Wade Handler (Benjamin Bratt) is assigned to Embry's case. As Katie struggles to finish her thesis and secure a job with a prestigious firm in the city, she must contend with the reappearance of Embry, who seems intent on destroying her life."

BTW, I know we have some genuine nutters on these forums so could somebody please explain to me why paying £20.99 for this DVD from discemporium when you can have it in 2 weeks time from Play for a whole £5 less makes good sense?

I guess people buy it early then stick it on eBay before the official release date for £16/£17 to get most of their money back?

But you have a thing for Ms Holmes so I'm guessing you've preordered!:D
Watching the spin cycle sounds more interesting than that synopsis though.

I'm definitely in there with the genuine nutters, but there's no way I'd pay £20+ for mainstream titles & this one sounds sooooo booooring that I wouldn't watch it on sky.

As one who has got into trading recently, I can kind of see the principle but you lose more than you would if you wait for a title from canada shipped on release day for £12. If you're keeing the film, they're no sense at all

    Jesus James, you're not wrong:

"As Katie struggles to finish her thesis and secure a job with a prestigious firm in the city..." :boring: :boring: :boring:

What the ****?!? Could they sell this film to us any less??

They couldn't even be arsed to think up a character name for the lead character:

Katie (Katie Holmes) :rotfl:

    Naturally :smoke:

If Katie Holmes is in it, I'm ordering it. It's as simple as that as far as I'm concerned :smashin:

I even upgraded my copy of 'The Gift' from the R3 to the R2 so that I could watch those babies bounce in full anamorphic glory   :rotfl:   :D

And now this, from the discemporium new releases thread:

    Real Women Have Curves
"Should Ana leave home, go to college and experience life? Or stay home, get married, and keep working in her sister’s struggling garment factory. It may seem an easy decision, but for 18 year old Ana, every choice she makes this summer will change her life."

What the hell is going on? Is somebody in Hollywood being paid to write the most boring films of all time?

Seriously, is it just me, or does the above film sound like anything anyone would want to watch.

Coming soon to a cinema near you:

Abandon Your Diet & Get Real Curves
"Meet Jane Smith (played by Jane Smith) an average girl with an average life... with one big decision to make. Should she buy the low fat version of Bird's Ready Made Custard or the Full Fat Version? It may sound boring but this Summer, get ready for price comparisons, fat to calorie conversions and a chance meeting with a spotty young guy on the till who enters the wrong price whatever she chooses."

Someone, somewhere is now frantically tapping away at their calculator to see how many million $$$ they can offer me for the full screenplay  :D

What made the moment extra special for me was that I wasn't expecting her to reveal them on film

I'd read well in advance that Sam Raimi had finally bettered his achievement of making The Evil Dead... by managing to persuade Katie to get her spaniel's ears out on film

    ROFL :rotfl:

Also worth checking out is 'Twilight'. A decidedly average film, but Reese Witherspoon takes her dogs for a walk

And yes - I did just buy the DVD for that moment only  :D

Yes; 'Suave, sophisticated, handsome and unattainable by 95% of the female population' is one I rather like, although admit it's not overly snappy.

Although I hear James45 has come down from his original 100% to allow a 99.5% unattainability level where hermaphrodites are concerned  :D

    :D

Funniest slang term I've ever heard for a hermaphrodite was:

'Shandy' - as in half something you'd want, half something you'd rather not have  :rotfl:

Update on the 'must have' DVD, Abandon:

"According to the included supplements, director and screenwriter Stephen Gaghan admits to failing to "break" the back of the script, rewriting the first act over 40 times and polishing it right up until the very first day of shooting."

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear, the director can't even get the script he wrote himself right... and then admits it to everyone who's bought the DVD.

That's not so bad. What about all the various endings of Joy Ride? They definitely couldn't make their minds up there - but it's still a great movie :smashin:
