Many thanks, my NOD32 sub is up this month so I might try a free AV suite in 2007 as I never had any issues at all last year with malicious software

I'm going to give this one a large 'BUMP' it has saved me 20 quid as my anti-virus software licence had expired. I have been running this for a couple of days now without any problems whatsoever. Nice find.

This would be good but I don't think it works with Vista, which I have installed.:(

I used to have this installed but recently replaced it with Avast. My personal experience was that I found it a bit of a resource hog. Personally, I'd recommend Avast or AVG for a free solution.

In what way mate? having uninstalled F-Secure 2006 and installed this, I have found Kaspersky to be less intrusive and a system hog compared to F-Secure, which was less system intensive than AVG....well on my rig anyway.

If you finding it okay then stick with it. The other problem I had was there are compatibility issues with the Kaspersky engine and Logitech webcams - a further reason for me to go to Avast!

I will take your advice and switch from f-secure 2006 to this as my subscription is up. Do you know of any good free firewalls and anti spyware programs?

    thanks

I have Vista and use Kaspersky....... It is the best internet security programme I have used. Extremely user friendly, multiple updates everyday, totally the most UNobtrusive AV software I have used.

    Would recommend to anyone:smashin:

No you can't, I tried that. The key only works with the AOL version.

As i understand it, the AOL version doesnt have 'LIVE SCANNING' available as a background process

Yes, it is kaspersky because thats where it gets its updates, & as we all know, Kaspersky have the best anti-viral definitions available. period.
i just hope there is no 'custom' spyware in AOL

(BTW, avast has a reputation for throwing up false positives)

It looks like AOL have pulled the plug on this one (follow the link in the first post) also my anti-virus has stopped updating the signatures, at least I had quite a few months free.

I wouldn't recommend going with McAfee (as linked on the AOL page) even though it's free.
