I am selling this for my brother. He bought it 16 months ago in the US. He is moving house and no longer has space for a home cinema.

It was JVC's flagship projector for 2017-2018 and it is still one of the best projectors on the market. The picture quality is amazing. Check out the review below.

This is the custom install version of the RS640 which is the same model as the X9900 that still sells in the UK for £8495.

There are 1720 hours on the first lamp and it is still very bright. All in low lamp eco mode. These are good for 4500 hours so should be plenty of life left before a new bulb is needed.

There is the odd scuff mark but its otherwise in great condition and it comes in original packaging with remote control.

Interested. Could you post or send me some photos? Wondering how bad the scuffs are.

Hi - does the projector work on UK voltages, or does it require a 230:110v transformer?

    Thanks. Cheers. Bill

The voltage is universal. Doesn't need a transformer.

Was bought Jan 2018 in California. Not sure what shop it was bought. I will find out. JVC warranties are not transferable and it would have to be shipped back to the states which would be a whole handling. So assume no warranty.

Shame shipping to USA is not a problem for me as have relatives there but if the warranty is not transferable I will need to sleep on it and then make my offer.
Great projector , ok price just a bit risky for this kind of money.

    Hi Jeff,
I take it the PJ is also located in Derry?
Do you pass through London or have cause to in the near future?

Yes mate. Well County Donegal beside Derry border. Won't be passing through London. Collection only or buyer can sort their own courier.

Hi Jeff, I'm based in Belfast and interested in the PJ, however the warranty situation is a concern for that amount of money. Would you be a guarantor, i.e. if anything went awry I could send it back to the US via you, thus retaining the warranty? Or if the warranty is universal you could use an EU dealer for the return?

    Best

Sorry mate. Can't do that. Even if I wasnt moving to Australia soon on a working holiday it would be too much hassle. The voltage is universal not the warranty. I can understand where your coming from being a large amount of money. What you got to do is weigh up the chances of anything happening over the next 7 months which is slim in my opinion. Then the small chance of it actually happening then the repair bill being big which is an even slimmer chance. I have had a jvc projector repaired before out of warranty, much more used and older than this one and the bill was £300 odds. Shipping it to US and back would cost more. Your welcome to come and test it out before committing to anything. I have been through a lot of projectors myself over the years and this one tops them all. The convergence is so good you would think it was a single chip. Would buy it myself it I wasnt going to Australia.

    Hi Jeff,
I completely understand the warranty situation, I just feel it’s a lot of money to spend on a consumer electronic item with no warranty. On this occasion I think I will pass, good luck with the sale.

If bought for the asking price I can include a new lamp so you won't have to worry about buying one for a long time. The current one still has a lot of life left in it too.

    Hey Jeff,
Me again. Since I can’t see the PJ, would you consider maybe “viewing it over Skype” - is it setup so I could say listen For noisy eshift and look for bright corners etc ie the things that some suffer from and others don’t. then the only concern would be something going wrong either in transit or thereafter which maybe I could live with as a risk?

That would be no problem although a skype video would be the worst way to view such things as the video quality and focus would be awful. I can honestly say that the focus is the most even and uniform I have ever seen on any projector. Convergence is also the best. I always thought that these top models with the best selected parts was a marketing ploy but its easy to seen in my opinion.

Probably around £30 - 40 uninsured. This would be on the buyer to arrange and accept responsibilty.

    Thx Jeff
I was hoping to test for things which might be visible eg bright corners rather than sharpness etc although even that is still likely problematic.
I can’t find a courier who will insure over £2.5k (a problem if shipment gets lost entirely) and a lot of them declare they won’t carry items with glass components (lens) on an insured basis. I’ll enquire whether I might be able to do better through a corporate account at my office since we ship high value items all the time.

Thats right. I don't know any couriers that insure projectors. I always just risked it when I got them sent here. Never had a problem.

Does this include the parts required to watch in 3D, or would they still need to be sourced separately?

Hey Jeff. Having had a chance to think about this I’d like to make an offer, however living near London makes logistics difficult. I would definitely want to come and see it working and have a chat. Plus would need to drive and get a ferry, so I could drive it back if I was happy. The lack of warranty is also slightly concerning but I get it. Based on all of that I’d like to make an offer of £3k. I know it’s a lot less than asking but I’ve added up petrol costs plus ferry both ways, time off work, hours on lens etc and it’s what would make it do-able for me.
