    Hi

I'm playing "catch-up" fast. I've been planning on getting a LCD later in the year. However a fault with my CRT, has meant that I'm having to get one now. Having read extensively through all info I can find, I've narrowed my search to a few of the more commonly recommended 40in units.

I've ruled out several for various reasons. However remaining on the shortlist by default is the JVC LT40DS7, it would appear to tick all the boxes. Although as a very new unit I cant find much (any!) info on it.

Has anyone any knowledge of this unit? What expectations have you got of a new JVC ? Good / Bad ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Malcolm

After shopping around to find the best price on the Samsung LE40M61, I have also come accross the JVC LT40DS7.

The spec on this does look good, I'd be keen to know it lives up to the specs.

You won't find anyone with an LT-40DS7 as it's not available yet but should be within a few days. It's the same chassis as the LT-26DX7/LT-32DX7 but with a cabinet similar to the DS6.

There is a long thread about the DX7s here.

Hopefully this model will have the new DIST system on board? The sound capabilities look interesting too.

I've got one of these in my office at work. If anyone wants a pic, let me know and I'll post one.

Thanks Gary that would be great - this could be the LCD I will be opting for if the price is fairly good.

A mini review would be nice..:D

I've seen it advertised on a couple sites around £1,600.

Well I'm biased so I'm probably not the best person to ask for a review. As I mentioned above, it's the same chassis as the DX7 so the PQ comments in that thread apply to the DS7.

Here's a pic. Sorry about all the cables but I didn't have time to tidy up.

Gary do you know if the contrast ratio is the same as the DS7, or is it higher?

Very nice. My dad has the 32DS6 and I've been very impressed with the pictures and the styling. To have this styling on the new 40 incher and with the anouncement today by the BBC re HD it looks as though events are conspiring against me :D

GaryB, sorry to be a pain but any chance you can take the WxHxD dimensions for me? Would really appreciate that. Also, can't quite tell from your photo but is the tabletop stand identical in style to the ones for the smaller DX7 models? Many thanks in advance!

So it was down to JVC 40DS7 and the Sony v40, after having a taster of the JVC (a 37DS6) and nothing has impressed me in the shops with the Sony, my JVC is on its way.

I hope it won't have the same problem on Scart 2 as the 37":lease:

    So fingers crossed

I'll give my thoughts on Sat when it turns up

You won't find any reviews just yet as it's so new. The first review samples are going out later this week.

No Idea I'm afraid as I haven't seen the Hitachi yet.
