Been looking for a 37" LCD for a while and I like the look/reviews of the LT-37ds6. It even looked good in Currys with rubbish feeds.

Then I saw the DM6 with PAL progressive scan / card reader. Has anyone seen one? Is it worth the extra dosh over the DS6? (I'm not really sure what the PAL option with give me?

They both have progressive scan. The differences between the DS6 & DM6 are that the DM6 has the card reader (it can also read microdrives) and high speed drive electronics which improve the picture on fast movement.

The DM6 isn't on sale yet although it will be very soon. I have one here and the high speed drive does actually work very well.

Can you confirm that the DM6 speaker grill is black versus silver. On the jvc web site it looks black.

Mine is silver but that is a test sample. I did hear that it may be sold in black to differentiate it from the DS6. I can give a definite answer after I get back to work on Tuesday.

The dm6 is listed for sale on 2uk websites. Soundandvision says "usually in stock"- bit of a fib I presume. I still think £2.5k is one hell of a premium unless the results are outstanding. Perhaps Panasonic will release a 37" Viera to give some competition?

A standard ploy to get the orders in.

I'll get a firm release date on Tuesday.

Excellent. Also, have you any recommendations for wall mounting?

almost £1,000 extra for a card reader and slightly faster respose? not worth it. Treat yourself to something with the difference if you are prepared to spend that much. I have the 37DS6. Have tested it like mad on fast scenes the moment I got it...Stunning, no loss of detail or blur (and I am picky) :smashin:

That was my thought too, I'd expect huge improvements for £1000. Nice to know the DS6 tested so well.

It'll still be interesting to hear GaryB's thoughts on the DM.

The chappie I need to get hold of isn't in work. I think he's back tomorrow or Friday. I'll update this thread as soon as I get the info.

Finally got the information on this. The DM6 will be all black. The first ones will be in the shops within a week or two but supplies for the first month will be very limited.

Sorry GaryB - I had read your reply but then was dismayed by the 'official' jvc response - good news if your info is more accurate - I'll keep my eyes open in the next couple of weeks.

The first batch of sets is very small so you may have trouble finding one - many are already sold even before they have been delivered. Let me know roughly where you are and I'll see if I can find the name of a local(ish) dealer that has one when they are available.

Gary - I'm near Warwick, so Birmingham, Coventry or Solihull are probably best bet - any suggestions would be welcome.

Gary How good is the picture quality on the JVC LT-37DM6, I was looking at LG 37LP1DA which has a response time of 8ms but looks ugly, I contacted JVC enquiring the response time of the LT-37DM6, the reply was

"Unfortunately we do not have that information to give you regarding
response time other than it is equipped with a fast response panel driver".

Any ideas, is the LT-37DM6 worth buying or is there a better 37" LCD out there.
