Anyone have any views or opinions on the HU. Thinking about getting one though can't decide between this and the Sony MEX R1. Completely ruled out Pioneer after hearing bad reviews everywhere....can't believe they're that bad?

Cheers

Someone must have an opinion....all gone quiet.

Basically its pretty much a clone of the 3" jvc without the screen.. I think the actual functionality for playback/mp3 is the same so I would have a look at the other thread.

Matt

Thanks for that......

Bit worried by the random play not being random....

Think I can live with it though

Does the JVC-KDAVX1 support mpeg files for example Downloaded Video Clips

from the internet

Ordered one yesterday so I'l post full review next week....can't wait..

I received my JVC on Monday and installed it immediately. Installation was easy, two clips (ISO) and I was up and running. I had to swap the red and yellow around as the settings were being lost when the ignition was turned off.

The unit itself it brilliant. All the problems that have been mentioned on here with some giga mp3 players don't seem to effect the JVC.

The navigation of the folders and songs it simple and starighforward (without a screen). And the features are easily accessable.

The sound quality is awesome. I have running the standard front door speakers and two tweeters in the front windscreen struts.
In the rear I have two PYLE 6x9s and they have a new lease of life with this unit. Before I had a CDX??? Sony Head unit which pumped out 4x50w though with the added MOSFET amp on the JVC, it makes a huge difference. I was not aware until now just how much difference the MOSFET amps would make and was stunned when I had finally set the USER preferences and put in my DVD MP3 disk.

Got mine from Pixmania and at £188.90 all in, it was an absolute bargain.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ANYONE

dont forget john to hook up a monitor as well :) This is a good little unit for that price its a bargain!!! giga MP3 and DVD for less than £200. if i didnt already own a KD-AVX1 and I was looking for a bargin I would go for this one.

forgot to add if you want it multi region drop me a PM :)

Why not post and let everyone benefit from this?

ok fine :)

you need a "jig remote" the same one that is used for the KD-AVX1. I have only one and would do it for anyone if they can make to Dunstable.

sorry to sound like such a newbie but....
does this work just like a normal car stereo (some of the dvd HU's ive seen need amps to power the sound etc)
can it do dts "as is" i.e. has it got the option to wire the 6 speakers straight from the HU
and if so does it do "phantom" for the center or no sub modes?
and does it use the rears for surround sound when playing normal radio/music or do they revert to a "normal" car stereo sound setup
is it a normal installation procedure or should i pay to get it done
sorry! so many questions! :suicide:

Thanks for the review and cheap deal. I'm highly tempted by either this or the AVX1. I can't see myself watching DVDs in the car, so I think I'll probably go for the KDV5101 without screen for half the price. :smashin:

Now, how easy is it to replace the HU that comes in a Honda CTR, bearing in mind that I have never done anything like this before?
Do cars and head units have standard connectors?
Is it likely to work with the steering wheel controls on a CTR?

Cheers,
Liam

its a standard ISO connection type. you may need to buy an adaptor but i guess you wont now until you get the old HU out. although if you are not too clued up on installs just get your local specialist to do it for you.
