    Hey all,

I'm new to these forums but thought this would be a great place to discuss the new JVC In Car DVD player, KD-AXV2, which can be seen here http://www.crutchfield.com/S-duF4iGWyg0V/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=168550&I=257KDAVX2

The only difference between that makes this unit worse from the previous version is that this only produces Preamp Voltage 2.5/2 volts instead of 5 volts on the KD-AXV1.

Has anyone purchased this HU yet? Is it any good?

More importantly, has it fixed any of the problems associated with the KD-AXV1 as listed below:

    Cons:
Slow loading and reaction time on mp3's.
No mp3 and pix at the same time
    No fast forwarding on mp3s.
Does not remember the position of the song on mp3s
Not enough buttons and somewhat hard to navigate..

    Weaknesses:
    - Only supports DVD-R (will not read DVD+R or DVD+RW).
    - Very slow loading Mp3 discs (CDR & DVD).
    - Changing audio settings is difficult since they are buried within menus. I have some songs that are very bass-heavy that require be to turn the bass down while other songs are lacking in bass and require bass to be turned up. This simple modification is quite a pain on this unit.
    - Mp3 songs start over every time the player is shut off. What this means is that if you want to quickly switch over to the radio then back to the player, the song starts over. Every time you get out get in and out of the car the song restarts. This is a terrible hassle especially for someone who listens to quite a few extended songs.
    - You cannot fast forward or rewind an Mp3 track. This really stinks when you realize that the songs always start over.
    - There is no way to see all of the songs on the disc. Some units (Kenwood and Pioneer) allow you to see all of the folders and tracks on the CD. This is really helpful when you have over 10 directories and over 100 songs on one disc. On the JVC, with a lot of button pressing (on the unit, the remote won't work!) you can see the first five characters of each folder (worthless), but not the songs without changing to that directory and song. In short, you had better know all of the songs, folders and their order ahead of time. Not good when you are putting over 40 directories and over 400 songs on one disc.
    - The remote is bulky & does not have all of the necessary menu functionality on it.
    - After running for about 30 minutes the unit is 1000 degrees hot.
    - The volume buttons are not very responsive. A rotary knob would have been much better.
    - Will not read WMV or Mpeg files. DVD and VCD are OK, but other formats would be great. Who is still working with VCD?

1.) kind of annoying that when switching between audio sources that the DVD mp3 i burned must be re-read and examined again, while this doesn't take long to do, it's still a small inconvenience that there is a pause there.

2.) controlling menus within a DVD menu doesn't seem to be possible without the remote.

3.) no visualizations when playing music

They were all taken from previous threads so some may be incorrect or even wrong, please dont flame :)

Any further information in regards to this new HU would be great, or, if anyone knows, is there much difference in sound between 2.5/2 watts preamp voltage to 5 watts? obviously its half the power but is it that noticable?

    Thanx
    Razor
