I've just seen a JVC LT-26D50BJ which states it is idtv compliant. Does that mean the same as the new high definition ready?

No idtv is an integrated digital TV receiver - Freeview. Its HD inputs are limited to component output which means that it will not be suitable for viewing all the content from the future Sky HD service or HD material from the majority of HD-DVD/blu-ray discs.
