JVC Hard drive camcorder

Just purchased a JVC hard drive camcorder. Problem is the software that comes with it. It takes ages to transfer from camera to computer so does anyone have experience of this type of camcorder. Any help on this and software recommendations welcome

When you say a takes an age to transfer the footage from camcorder to PC, how long is it taking to tranfer 30 minutes of footage for example?

There could be several processes going on i.e.

1. The transfer is occuring in real time so 30 minutes of footage will take 30 minutes to transfer.

2. The footage might be re-encoded when you transfer to your PC which may takes ages if you have a slow PC.

3. The footage could possibly be transferred as a digital file from the HDD which should be reletively quick, which does not seem to be the case.

Do the instructions give any indication on how the process is achieved.

Are you transferring via firewire or USB1/2?

What is the name of the software you are using or is it JVC's own proprietory software?

Hi, if you dont mind me asking which model, and whats your impressions. Ive been thinking about a HDD camera but many have posted that the quality is nowhere near the quality of tape.
