As per the title really, as we are expecting the imminent arrival of a new baby, we want a decent camcorder that overall makes editiing/copying to a PC easy.

Does anyone have any opinions of this please?

    Cheers.

I nearly bought this one as it does appear very good, but as usual there are new models around, including the JVC GZ-MG20 / 30 / 50 / 70, but none of them have 3CCD so will probably not have the same picture quality.

I did find a couple of reviews that stated it was good at video capture but the 5Mp still capture was not all that you'd expect as with most multi-function products.

The MC500 has 3 x 1/4.5 inch CCD, whereas the 'soon to be released' JVC MG-GZ70 has a 1/3.6 inch CCD with a 30Gb HD instead of Compact flash.
