Help! I'm a noobi relating to DV.

I've connected up my new camcorder to my PC via the firewire socket into my SB Audigy and XP Home (Service Pack 1) doesn't recognise it.

I've tried setting the camcorder to play and rebooting the PC but Windows Movie maker 2 does not think it's connected.

(I know Movie Maker is basic but I want to experiment before I splash out on a dedicated program)

IEE1394 connection in Device manager OK (no problems)

    PC is Athlon 2200
    512 MB Samsung 2700 RAM
    2 80 gb Maxtor HD's
    Epox 8k3a MB
    SB Audigy
Leadtek Winfast A150 TD (Geforce 4)
    Direct X 8.1 (with XP):(

    Update

Tried the firewire socket on the back of the SB Audigy card rather than the socket on the "Live Drive".

    It works!!!!

XP recognises the camcorder by name:clap:

Now got to find out why the other socket doesn't work.
