JVC DRMH50SEK, Pioneer DVR530H-S or ?

I'm looking to replace an aging Toshiba VCR with a DVD/HDD recorder
combination. One feature the replacement needs to have is the ability
to control a Sky digibox, since I get very poor analogue reception in my
area (could be improved if I was to spend lots of money on a new
arieal, but I'm loath to do that).

I've been reading the forums and looking at advets and specifications,
and so far, my best choices would seem to be either a JVC DRMH50SEK or
a Pioneer DVR530H-S. At the moment, I'm tending towards chosing the JVC
for several reasons - its cheaper :)) ), has a bigger hard drive, and seems to offer greater flexibility in terms of controlling the Sky box (I'm not sure how useful GP+ would be in my area, since normal signal is very poor and I don't subscribe to Sky, just use the free-to-air channels). However, I know nothing about the JVC other than reading the manual and looking at the specs.

I'd be grateful if others could tell me anything about the JVC, or indeed, if there are other machines I should consider. I'm interested in reliability, noise level, and ease of use. Any help appreciated...
