20,000 hours. Lets say 4 hours a day using it as your main display device, having it on in the background whilst cooking and for a film every night with some morning TV.

20000/4 = 5000 days = 13.6 years

So basically, a JVC laser projector is a device which will serve you well for 13.6 years and then become an expensive paperweight for £11500-£15000. I'd say thats not a bad value proposition given I think nearly every display device I own after 10-13 years is a worthless.
Actually that’s a valid point, in all honesty what would anyone expect to get for a +10yr old projector, even one that cost £11-15k, I’m guessing very little because the technology will have moved on dramatically since then.

Also add that these days nothing lasts more than a few years at the very max due to constant upgraditis. Manufacturers know what they are doing.
