View attachment 710521 001.JPG 002.JPG 003.JPG Stunning pictures, especially with blu-ray disks, but excellent with most normal DVDs also! Both screen and projector are clean and in very good condition. The screen is a 106" GRANDVIEW electric screen with remote control, goes perfectly with the HD950!

Lamp hours are very high, but still going strong on the original bulb - no sign of the picture darkness which is a sign of impending lamp failure, but a spare bulb is included in the price as is a very good quality 10M HDMI connecting cable!

Will happily demonstrate! I dont have transport at the moment, so buyer will need to collect..dont think the screen will go on the train somehow!

Can you say exactly how many hours are on the bulb, and is the spare that you have a genuine JVC bulb? Is all the original packaging for the projector available?

    Thanks

The hours on the machine state 10098 which seems very high considering my usage history and that its still on the original bulb! Cant find the original packaging Im afraid..maybe in the loft but I am not able to get right up there these days. As for the bulb..without opening up the packaging I cant say for certain whether its an original JVC bulb..it cost £250 on line..so I presume its not a cheap and nasty copy!

You'd have had to have been using it 7 hours a day maybe to rack up that many hours....and surely that would be a record for the lifespan of a UHP lamp???

Does it have any pink banding issues that these models often suffered from (more likely as they get older)?

I had another JVC projector that had such a problem (cant remember the exact model), but it happened under warranty so exchanged it for an upgrade to the HD950..no such issues with this one..I wouldnt sell it if there was, or at a much reduced price! It would be a record for that lamp thats why I find it so hard to believe as for 7 hours a day when u were working and sleeping at the time..even more unlikely! I will put up a pic of the lamp box!

Thanks very much; did you purchase the lamp for your previous JVC PJ (HD750 maybe?) - they both use the same model of lamp. It looks quite old judging by the picture. Do you recall where you bought the lamp from? Sorry for all the questions, but I am very interested (and close enough for pick up), but given the age of the lamp, and the uncertainty of the hours on it, the spare lamp is very important when it comes to the purchase. I assume you had to disable the replace lamp message on the screen? Do any warning lights (re the lamp) flash on the PJ? Thanks again.

Seriously I would check the hours again in the menu as in you haven't put an extra 0 in there by mistake? i.e. it 1098 as opposed to 10098

Sorry but the original bulb at that many hours would struggle as a "night light" wouldn't it?
The only other possibility would be when you exchanged your 750 for this upgrade of the 950 it was already a "used model" that had been through 2 or 3 lamps already?

OP already stated he's the first owner, but you'd expect any lamp to have exploded into oblivion after so many hours! Mystery!

Yes BUT he doesn't say if it was a refurb or not!!!!!

Something IS wrong here with the hours so it's a mistake in the quoted hours or his replacement wasn't brand new

Do you really think JVC would supply a (very well used) refurb and not reset the lamp hours, which is sort of where you seem to be going?

I think we're all very surprised at the quoted hours, and if the OP says he's the one and only owner, it doesn't sound like it was a refurb. But I'm sure we'll get some clarity. 10,000hours on a six-year old PJ is pretty good going, even without considering the OP's comments about not using much in the last 3 years. In any case, I don't think I'd want to risk using the existing lamp because they is no certainty over the hours, and it could go pop at any time. If the spare lamp is OEM, it's not an issue though.

Its definitely more than 1098 hours! I hope they sent me a brand new replacement otherwise Ive been seriously ripped off = even if it was a refurb which I seriously hope not..it would have a new bulb with the hours reset surely ..I paid nearly 6 grand for it! The bulb I believe was bought for the HD950 on line from one of Amazons sponsored dealers - they wouldnt send me a duff one I hope - but how do I tell if it is?

I suppose you could see if it looks (exactly) the same as the original lamp already in the PJ....but obviously that involves unboxing the new lamp, and even then you cannot be 100% sure (so please don't open it just on my account). The normal advice given on these foruMs is to only buy any replacement JVC lamp from an authorised seller, or from Sontec (the JVC-approved service centre).

Sorry, I've just noticed the Orange lamp warning light is shown on in the pic above, as expected if the lamp hasn't been replaced with so many hours showing in the menu.

    Hi Guys
I don't really want to scupper Richards thread, but we have been talking for the past two weeks, as he has a for sale ad on hifi for sale for this projector.
As I said I don't want to put his sale down for any reason but with this being such a helpful community I just thought I would add my findings.
On speaking to Gary B at JVC about the 10.000 showing on the lamp, he had no explanation for this as he commented in all his time working at JVC he has never known a timer to be inaccurate
Also he explained if the bulb was bought via amazon he is 95% certain it would not be an original
Sorry Richard if this does not get you the sale you require.
    Good luck
