JVC AV28X4 geometry fix

Hiya,

Just recently got a JVC AV28X4 and initially the geometry was way off, but thanks to a JVC manual I managed to successfully fix most of these probs by tweaking the settings found in the service menu, except for one problem! In service menu, under DEF settings there is a "Bow" value that controls the sideways bow of the picture but unfortunately there's no such value for the up-down bow - which is what my telly has, the picture arcs slightly upwards.

Does anyone know whether this can be fixed from "EEP Edit", by changing any of the "Top Address" values, or should I contact an engineer to see to this problem?

Thanks a million in advance,

What you need is North/South correction. It's not adjustable in software. It is preset during CRT manufacture. Whatever you do, do not change anything in the EEPROM editor. One wrong bit there can stop the set working completely.

Thanks a million GaryB, I get it. It's not a major problem, the north-south bowing is very slight, but at least I now know that it's an engineer job.

All the best,

CYBERISHA,

I'm looking at the JVC AV32X4B and in the tech-sheet and on the web-site there is reference to the NTSC progressive scan (525/p) being available on this set. I assume this feature retains 3:2 pulldown but runs the displays at progressive refresh rate of 60Hz) but what's with PAL progressive scan, is it there by default so they didn't give it a special mention or it is actually not available with this set. Have you tried feeding it progressive RGB via SCART (yes, some players can do that). Since you have the very model, can you give me some insight, pls...the ppl at the shop are very incooperative...
