When you do let me know how good it is please.

I had mine on order an then cancelled after realising I have it on PAL LD and have never watched it. The last time I saw the film must have been in my mid teens about ten years back.

Is it as good now as ROBOCOP is or not ?

    Shame on you Mr. Wardle.

Such a classic, and you haven't even watched it?!?!?

I've got it on PAL LD too. Very good, also saw it on DVD in DD (was buying it a while back but didn't), excellent blokes night in with a few beers.

The DTS version should be a definative disc.
It's one of my favourites, as it's got such quality acting; strong story; character development; great direction [IMG] [IMG] and so on.

I just know that when people think of an Arnie film with big guns, this is it!
And in DTS/DD, what could be better?

Dying to see the forest destruction scene again very LOUD! [IMG]

I find the thing about ARNIE movies is that they just do not seem to be as good when I watch them now as I remember them to be.

During my teen years I must have watched PREDATOR, COMMANDO and the rest almost once a week but now im not so sure.

I was more than impressed when I watched ROBOCOP again last year after about 5 years of not seeing it but im not sure if the same will be true of PREDATOR

Just out of interest, has anyone else noticed how the Play website hasn't been updated for a couple of weeks?
And they're not answering their phones.
    Or emails.
And people are complaining about late discs.
I wonder if they're having cash flow problems. LEt's hope it's just the Xmas rush and flooding that people have been talking about.

I've heard a few reasons for the recent strange goings on with Play...

They were probably closed for Xmas/New Year, like most companies, and have a major backlog of orders to catch up on.

    Their warehouse was flooded.

The recent bad weather has affected their shipping badly (they are offshore, after all).

I tried to access their site the other day and was greeted with the message: "Cannot access this page. There is currently too much traffic trying to access this site." I've only ever seen this a couple of times, so it shows just how popular they are and how much pressure they must be under right now.

Hopefully, normal service will be resumed in the next few days. [IMG]

On a more depressing note, however, I saw one post in a forum saying that someone had heard that Play are going under. Just a rumour though, which I - and I'm sure most of you - really hope isn't true!

We shouldn't make excuses for rubbish service - that's what's so great about the net after all, is letting fellow consumers know what's worth bothering with.
My experience of Play is as follows - On 22 December I ordered a disc from Express.com (my preferred site) and the day after decided to try out Play for the first time and placed orders for a couple of discs. In a nudge over a week (including Christmas) my disc from Express arrived Sat 30th December and I have still not received anything from Play. This is rubbish service as the discs are coming 400 miles, not 7,000. I won't be using Play again - the small saving isn't worth the effort. I'm trying out A&B Sounds on the same basis and if they can't get discs to me in a reasonable time I will probably not shop there again either.
If Play are going bust it's probably because their business model was flawed - if something's cheap, there's probably a catch and we may have just found it.

FYI this is not a good sign. It means that the service play have with their host is not good enough to cater for the traffic they are getting.
Upgradinging the service so they don't get this message will most likely cost money.
We had problems with excess traffic a while back. Generally the host charges an additional fee but allows the traffic to continue. We had to move to a new host (Demon) who give us unlimited bandwidth.
Getting these messages on play's site would lead me to think that
    a) they are not allowed to exceed a certain amount of data transfer and they can't afford to up the service.
    b) they are not allowed to exceed a certain amount of data transfer but couldn't arrange to increase this promptly - quite possible over the xmas period.
    c) they are allowed to exceed a set amount of data transfer but their host won't let them for whatever reason (possibly because this acrues more charges).

    a) and c) would seem to point towards cash flow problems, but this is just speculation.

One other thing - flooding and the xmas period would not account for their website not being updated. Even if Play's computers were wrecked, they could still log on to the website and make changes from any remote location. IF I were the webmaster for Play, I'd update the site from wjerever I could.

    I hope play are ok.

I've been getting on to the Play site the first time of trying for the last 2 weeks. Couple of treacley connections on the run-up to Christmas but no real probs.
