I've been wanting to get a HD tv purely for playing games on my xbox 360 to get the most out of it, i just wondered if it would make much difference if i got a cheap one, or is it a case of you get what you pay for.
I've seen cheap HD tv's in tescos for under £500, like i say it will only be used for playing games on my xbox, cheers.

I think the main 'gotchas', excluding picture quality, will be response time and lag. Lag tends to be a non-issue these days, but could rear its head in the cheaper sets.
Response time (and this is LCD tech only) is not just about the ms figure quoted, as these are measured differently anyway. It's also about the processing, and I would imagine cheaper sets are far worse then the top ones (and even they aren't perfect).

At the end of the day, you have to try yourself to be sure as different people experience different effects in different ways.
