    Christ

Simplest way to waste £3.75 I've found in a dog's age. Avoid. More wooden performances than a porno festival.

    Picture was OK though.

    What has happened to Carpenter?

    tis pants and no mistake.
Not quite as bad as Escape from LA but hey...

Notice the horrible fluffy transitions to signify time has passed in certain scenes even if its only say 20 seconds... suggests they didn't shoot all the material they needed and cobbled it together in editorial.... mad....

Quite boring Mad Max Three influenced horror by numbers, the only saving grace is Natasha Henstridge, I enjoy looking at her always, even if I haven't spelt her name properly.
Yeah, John Carpenter he used to make decent films out of reasonable books, what happened...

Mr. D - how right you are.

Escape from LA - truly sh*te. The surfing scene has the worst CG scene since McClane's "ride the truck through the water filled pipe" in DH3.

And to think he made The Thing - now that's a good DVD. :p

Yep LA surfing is bad : we are actually using it as a benchmark for acceptability for another film with a similarish scene as in " please god if it works out bad let it not be as bad as LA!"

Its all 2d plates in LA though no "proper" modelled CG water just comping film plates together maybe with some 3d particles ( to be honest water/live action integration like this is still very hard to do ILM had 4 years R&D for Perfect Storm and hundreds of people and some of that is still a bit dodgy.) The rest of the effects in LA are similarly bad though.

There are some shots in ghosts that look like first rough attempts if you ask me ( like the ballon crash scene).

There is a part of me that loves watching cheesy expensive tat like this though even if only so I can say "whoa thats even worse than what I'd try to get away with !"

Just got C.H.U.D. the other day ...very entertaining !

Now you're talking!:D CHUD is a classic. But I'd say (from memory) it's still better than Ghosts of Mars. Did you see the thread on CHUD a few months back. I want to buy it, but if I don't like it as I remember it, who could I sell it to afterwards....????? Hmmmmm.................;) :)

CHUD : its got a brilliant commentary track from the director , scriptwriter and two leads and they just really rip into the film and laugh themselves silly at it....great!

Also bought UHF at the same time (weird al jancovic) worth it just for the beverly hillbillies theme in the style of dire straits money for nothing.

    bit of a cheesefest really!

Been thinking of "Gremloids" recently too ever catch that ? Laugh a minute!

    Nice.

I remember certain scenes from the film, head chopping with a sword, monsters not really dead coming back at the end (that old chestnut :) ), glowing eyes somewhere and so on. How can I resist? Must buy it cheaply though else she'll go potty for buying utter crap.:D :D :D

£15.99 is the only one I can find R1 at the moment.
    But when you read this-

    Review
Beneath the streets of New York City, there are hundreds of miles of subterranean tunnels unfit for anything human, unauthorized for anything experimental and unlikely to come to the surface…until now. Something horrible is loose in the sewers of Manhattan, and the city’s homeless population have begun to mutate into 'Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers.' They are C.H.U.D. – hideous, hungry and headed for the streets!

    you can but only smile.:)
Ghosts on the other hand is just poor. God, CHUD must be really good then.:)

Ah its worth it though for those spur of the moment cheese cravings. These days it takes several 10s of millions and dedicated teams of overtrained and undereducated social pariahs to produce fromage of such ripeness.

In the old days they just knocked it up in a tub round the back!

Ghosts of Mars is one of my favourite films lol. I couldn't stop laughing at the bit when Jason Statham looks over the hill while the neo-metallers proceded to chop heads off and march about screaming. Then after seeing all that he turns round and says on his radio "guys, we got a bit of a situation here" :D It was a real head trip and I recommend people watch it AFTER they've had a bit to drink ;) Every time a head went flying up in the air I couldn't stop laughing. Also did anyone notice the flashback within flashback within flashback? :D
