    Hi People,

    Just watched Kill Bill today,

I found it better than I expected - Before seeing I thought it didn't need to be split into 2 , however, after seeing it I can't wait for the next part, and thought the first part was long enough, and complete as is...

Very Jap/HK inspired - if you like Battle Royale/ Ichi etc..... then you'll love this - not as extreme, but the same dark humour....

Not as gory as the reviews are saying, but that depends on your own references:)

Will be buying as soon as it's released on DVD

I was going to do that but figured by the time the pirates had done the rounds, and everyone at work had discussed it over and over, it would spoil it for me.

    Cheers

Is the Uk release Uncut? or is it the same as the R rated USA Release ? As i heard some of the end fight was turned Black and white and some gore was trimmed thanks to the MPAA. The Japanese release will be uncut??

It got a slating on Ceefax.

But then who are they to review stuff??

Admit it's put me off seeing it though, seems Tarantino has become even more self-indulgent :(

I can't wait to see this film!! Hopefully it'll reach all my expectations...the only bit that put me off was hearing it has been split into a 2-part film...hopefully this won't spoil it for me!

    Great though! :D

Well, Jonathan Ross absolutely loved it :D ;)
The only way to decide whether a film is good or not is
to go and see it yourself.
The guy who writes reviews on ch. 4's teletext, Paul Arendt,
absolutely hated the film but that's his opinion. I have agreed
and disagreed with many of his reviews and, at times, I thought
that I'd watched a totally different film to what he had.
Personally, I'll be waiting for the dvd of both volumes as I don't
agree with the policy of splitting a film in half to increase their
    profits.

I watched the movie yesterday, and personally, felt splitting the movie in two was an awful descision.

The result is a 'part one' (so to speak) which has a very dire and cold closing, and quickly loses touch with the movie's essence (beautifully established in the first 30 minutes).

If you can overlook this, the movie's superb in every other way.

I thought QT did a good job of cutting it in half, it was have been a daunting prospect to edit the thing.

    SPOILER

If it hadn't ended with "Does she know her daughter is still alive?" then things may have been different.

The anime section was stunning, although I'm certainly no authority on the subject.

Sorry to sound negative and I do sincerely admire your ONE man stand, but do you think A) They will care or B) It will affect them in any way?

Personally I did feel that after the 1.5hrs it did only feel like 45mins (I could have happily watched part 2 there and then) and that yes it is just a cash in. However isnt say The Matrix reloaded/Revolutions endings just the same or even the way LOTR ends (Its one story in Kill Bills case but a trilogy in the other two).

Did you pay to see the Matrix films or LOTR films by any chance?

Yeah Miramax suck and I hate them for different reasons but Id hate to see you miss a good 2hrs of BIG SCREEN action for your pety squable.

    I DID LOVE KILL BILL.

Im interested when Tarantino stops making films in this format ie cut together like an MTV video and jumps back and forth. It seems the more films he makes, the less in between parts (ie character building he is doing). However he did explain this in many interviews he has done recently but I am interested if his particular style starts to wear thin, where he will go after that?

I saw it on Sat night and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Also it was the first time in ages of going to see the cinema with no one - at all - talking during the film. Amazing.

I think I will only ever watch certificate 18 films at the cinema now, apart from the major films, it seems clear what age group causes all the trouble!!

Had a day of with my girl, and watched it today. We thought it was fantastic. Only 5 of us in the place. I would advice anybody not to wait for the DVD. Please go and see it at the flicks. we could have watched it for 4hrs. But we're glad that it is at least shown over 2 films, rather ending up being a 4hr film cut to 2hrs.

There is just so much more to tell.

    Hi,

Saw this on Saturday lunchtime, and enjoyed it, despite two senior citizens in the back of the auditorium nattering all the way through the film... the imbeciles!

Film was good, but not great. However, this is part one of two, and so I want to withold my judgement until I see part two and then decide for myself. The ending of part 1 really makes you want to see part 2 straightaway. I definitely think that they should have left "Kill Bill" as one giant movie.

Also, QT has said depending on how parts 1 and 2 do, he may do a full-length animated prequel for a direct-to-DVD release! How cool would that be?! (Source: QT interview shown late on Channel 4, Sunday night)

Lastly, I too have heard the rumours that the UK and/or US versions have been censored. In the UK, the black-and-white scenes in the big Uma Thurman/Samurai fight scene were originally filmed in colour, and this is how it has been shown in Japan. So, can anyone confirm or deny this, because I was under the impression that the BBFC had classified it as an uncut 18, but it may be that the British-end of Miramax has pre-cut it, to avoid our nation's sensitivity towards all things gory and violent! (Why, for goodness sake? It wasn't anywhere near as violent or sick as everyone claims! Look at Peter Jackson's "Braindead" - aka "Dead Alive" - for a really sick movie!

Lastly, what's the stunning piece of instrumental rock music that's used in the trailer, and when the motorbikes are riding through the Japanese city streets? Is it by RZA?

Fab film, off to see it again tomorrow.

I have read in an interview with QT that he has a slightly different cut of the film for the Japanese and eastern markets. He has inserted 2 extra scenes of graphic violence. These scenes may very well find themselves added to the dvd's. Naturally the BBFC will have a say.
We'll just have to wait and see.

Saw it earlier today, loved it.

It is the most violent film I've ever seen.

Definately a QT film, in that there's a strange mixture of humour, drama & shocking violence.

Anyone who likes maritial arts/violence/swords (me, me, & yes, me) will love it.

I thought the black & white scenes, & those basically against a blueboard, were quite stylish - had no idea they were due to censorship, tho I'm not surprised the censors would have had at it. I'll be hoping for an uncut DVD release, & will get the DVD for episode 1 asap. (It being split in two does not bother me, fim did n't seemed to have been padded out with rubbish to stretch out long enough for a two way split, & I'd rather see more of this than have good stuff cut out).

Hopefully buying the DVDs as they appear will be pretty safe as I don't believe QT is one for producing particularly special editions (witness Pulp Fiction - no commentary, 4 deleted scenes, one interview, one longer scene, & that's about it) ... it's not likely any special boxed set will have longer cuts or unmissable extras as opposed to the individual DVDs. If Episode II does come out in Feb hopefully that will mean a fairly early Episode I DVD release.

Uma's great, & some of the scenes are absolutely fantastic, especially with Lucy Liu. Daryl Hannah's eyepatch looked like a steal from a Twin Peaks character, which is the closest I can come to a criticism, but then the whole film is a rip off/homage of Hong Kong flicks.
