I also went and watched Blade 2 last night and it is superb. Mr Snipes has got the comic book hero down to a tee. The action also never stops throughout the whole film and the reapers are really cool.

Just go and see it and sit back and enjoy, you will not be dissapointed:)

I thought Luke Goss was great as Nomak and the way the reapers fed was really cool. Can't wait for the dvd release.

I thought this film was dissapointing, ok there was plenty of action but the good guys were a bit laughable. This looked more like a kids super hero film than a peice of adult entertainment. The lack of dialog was ever present and the action was nothing better than the first. For me Blade I is a far better all rounder and after the excitment has died down people will see Blade II for what it realy is, one of the biggest no brainers in action history. I may change my mind when I get the DVD as watch it as the director intended.

My personal opinion is that i dont give a s*** if it is a no brainer, just so long as it manages to amuse me for 2 hours or so!

This film had a lot to live up to after the first one and although i found it very enjoyable and a great way to spend around 90 minutes(approx.wasnt really counting),i dont think it quite managed it. Having said that i thought that Luke Goss played a very good part and i was surprised to see "the cat" from Red Dwarf. The fight scenes were very good and well choreographed but the action on screen moved so fast that it was difficult to keep up with what was happening. There were also a few very funny one liners. The film suffers from the difficult task of what all sequels do,and that is living up to the original.I would not have missed this for the world and will be one of the first in line to buy the DVD but in my opinion(for the moment anyway)there is only one definitive Blade.

    Buns,

Dont get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with watching any peice of entertainment once, for what it is, but when it comes to repeated viewing the silent charractors and the 'whats the point to this action sequence?' may become a little tiresom.....for some, but not for all.

Isn't this exactly what it is? I saw a spiderman last week (taped for the kids) and blade was in that. Was he not one of Marvel comics creations?

Yes Blade was originally a (superhero) comic-book character.

Blade 2 was apparantly shot at 1.85/1 compared with the original's 2.35/1 to give it a more comic-book feel.

I thought it was excellent btw.
I may even return to see it at the cinema again.

I wondered about this.I thought it was unusual that when the film started it was no wider than the previous adverts and trailers.

    Highly enjoyable.

I think Luke Goss now has the answer to his question, "When will I, will I be famous?"

Still not sure about those wrestling moves though.

I wondered that... but I don't care as much.

Blade is a bit of an enigma, never having his own series of comics. He just turns up in those of other characters. Yet he has still managed to support a whole movie franchise, which has finally spawned his own series. Which is a bit crap, to be frank.

Super Hero aint the same as Comic Hero in my book. Look a The Crow, you wouldnt exactly call Eric Draven a Super Hero now would you?

Blade and Eric Draven are anti-heroes anyway, take them out of the gothic/horror setting and you could call them super heroes I reckon. In the same category as Ghost Rider, even Batman.

They can never be super heroes though, because they kill people. Like Spawn.

Anyway, I don't want to turn this thread into a conversation on comic books...

Ok......I have eventually just seen the film......

Retracting my previous comment, I agree with Badass. The film was generally disappointing. For the first short while, I was totally lost, I was verging upon leaving. It did get better as soon as i had a clue what was actually happening, but I feel that it would have been better not to have 2 separate scenes, right at the start, where the viewer had no idea what was happening!

I thought the effects were interesting, but I preferred the effects in the 1st film, somehow it seemed more beleivable! All the fiery vampires blowing up was plain silly!

The film did seem comic book like......as suggested, the characters often seemed unreal. Also.....how did blade have such trouble with the blood pack at first, yet the blood pack were slaughtered by the reapers but blade had no problem? seems a bit odd.

I could go on......but i'll just get nasty!

    Ad

But it was ok, if u ignore the silly points!

    buns,
Im not sure what you mean about the "2 seperate scenes right at the start".I found the storyline reasonably easy to follow.
Like i said earlier,i still think that the original has the edge but this could change because i am finding myself with a strong desire to see Blade 2 again. In fact i am putting it at the top of my must have DVD's!! Now all i have to do is find out about release dates:confused:

    Ron,

What i meant was there was 1st the scene with the vampires getting munched by reaper man.......then there was blade chasing the vampires in search of whistler......my personal thought was that i was taken totally by surprise and had no idea what was happening!

Also, if the blood in the blood bath at the end is meant to look like real blood......the guys who decided upon it must be doing Warferin on the quiet!

Out of interest. Can you put hard core porn in an 18 rated movie yet?

I suppose this depends on what your definition of hard core porn is,cause different people will have different opinions.Speaking from my own opinion, and having been somewhat jaded over the years,i would say absolutely not!!! :D :D

In this country, is hard core even allowed yet? Not that porn in particular worries me, but I disagree with the government telling adults what they can and cant watch! Its not like it is harming anyone! And all those womns rights campaigners......its the actors choice!

I can somehow never imagine kobe tai strutting her stuff in the summer blockbuster!

I think the official stance is that it is ok as part of a personal collection(children and animals excluded)but it is illegal to sell or distribute from within the UK.Which means that you are perfectly entitled to order from outside the UK.But then again,it is illegal to send "obscene" material through the post. Our laws can be so stupid and complex

Went to see this yesterday morning (only 4 other people there :D ) and purposely avoided this thread.

    a generous 6/10

Good gore, but too much kung-fu fighting nonsense, more Dodge Charger and bigger gun action needed. Firey deaths got boring after a while. Soundtrack too loud for too long - ears ringing as I left the theater (and no, it wasn't the Cinema's fault as the dialogue was at a reasonable volume).

Prob'ly better suited to home theater than the movie theater.

Good to see foreign language shown as subtitles not accented English.

I'm seeing it tomorrow morning - avoiding the plebs if possible.

Hmmmmn....I was kinda hoping there'd be plenty of Dodge Charger and gun action...never mind, I'm sure I'll love it.
