    Hi
Ordered my pb12- ultra 2 in maple today,Bad news :( it seems theres a shortage of cabinets so may have to wait three weeks before delivery. When i brought my pc+ there was a shortage of drivers which meant a subless 4 weeks as rags had brought my B&Wasw675 its just my luck.I suppose it will be worth the wait and i can always nick my lads yam sub out of his bedroom and connect that up :D i wonder if ill notice the difference.
    Cheers Gonzo. :)

    Hi
Just to let folks know if you pre-order your wood finish sub now you get a gift certificate ranging from $75 for a pb12-plus woofer and $100 for the plus-2 and ultra-2 models which you can use now and have shipped with your new sub. There are a few good things to be had such as the avia set up disc and spl meter for $80 dollars and silver serpent sub cables starting around $26.95.
    Cheers Gonzo. :)

    Hi John
    Will do.
Ron from svs says they should start shipping the new cabinets in 2-3 weeks so am making do with my lads yamaha sub for now.Ive been wanting this sub for quite a while and was going to change my screen next but have decided to let the dust settle what with the H/D compatibility problems and other issues.
    Cheers Gonzo.

    Hi folks
Well the subs arrived well packed as always. The wood finish on the sub is flawless and its built like a tank. After putting it in the lounge i then set the sub up and got ready to play. The main thing i noticed straight away was the sheer power this sub as got, when the rocket takes off in the incredibles dvd the room about goes up with it,sound quality wise it is much like the pc range but a lot more intense with obviously much more power tried finding nemo darla ,u571, and music cds all passed with flying colours .Now for the bad news :( when mrs gonzo came home i was told in no uncertain terms that the sub cannot stay at the front of the room because of its size it will have to be put at the back left hand corner or nowhere. So when my 12 metre sub cable arrives i will be moving the sub to the back and if it doesnt intergrate properly looks like there will be a brand new pb-ultra 2 going in the classifieds and i will be getting another tube.Has anyone had a setup with the sub at the rear.
    Cheers Gonzo.

    Hi gonzo,

due to my large front speakers, both Sub's are crossed over by 40 Hz.
It's just tooooo much of a good thing if I would try to add them in at 80Hz.
And just the Sub's at 80Hz will not do justice to the Infinities, as with Music, they should carry the full bass signal.
See my profile for the equipment used.

You don't want to do it like that. :suicide:

It's time to get the doily and table lamp out again. Putting the sub at the rear is going to open up a whole can of worms you don't even want to think about. What about all those cancellations and reinforcements right across the frequency range? With you in the middle? Nah.

What you want to do is sell it to me for a real knockdown price cos you are probably rich and I am poor. I love my pb2+ but I wish I had sneaked the ultra before my wife realised what was coming or how much these things cost.
Now I am back in the real world with no money for upgrades just endless diy and landscaping of the garden. That ultra is going to give you endless problems gonzo, you know it, it deserves to be with me in the place where my pb2+ now sits.
You are getting v-E-R-y sleepy, you are falling into a charitable trance, you have this irresistable urge to sell your massive box to someone beginning with P.
Wide awake and Back in the Room!
That's a deal then, moving to pm

    Hi folks
    Guess what
Ive placed the sub at the back corner and it sounds fantastic :D , even better than at the front,Dont ask me why because i really thought this sub would be going on the classifieds i really did.I had a feeling it would be localised at the back but to my delight it looks brill and sounds brill, iam so releaved cos £1500 sobs is a lot of money and iam not rich. The sub has got more room round it at the back corner whether thats why but i dont really care, sorry pollywoggle.
Now to hide the new sub cable.
Cheers a much releaved Gonzo. :)

    Hi nimby
I should have explained one big sofa is on the 16' wall with a dresser next to it the sub is on the other side of the sofa with about 8'' between both the couch and the left corner. My other sofa is right on the back wall so theres a door to my left then the sub so when sat at the back the sub is really at the side of me about 4' away.
    Cheers Gonzo.
Thanks for the thumbs up john you dont know how much better i feel now and the sub does look like a very nice piece of furniture the wood veneer is excellent.

Ah well, I will have to put up with my lesser svs subs for a while longer :)
Enjoy a fantastic piece of kit :smashin:
How much do you reckon your ultra cost you all in with bax, taxes etc included?
Just trying to think up devious schemes to blag the boss, "Yes those definitely are the expensive slabs we looked at dear"

Thanks Gonzo, I guess the normal black one would be a bit cheaper, if I could do the importation whilst she was away somewhere she would never know the difference!

The accepted wisdom is that subwoofers are best placed at the front between the main speakers. This minimises reinforcement and cancellation with the main speakers. :lesson:

I am delighted that gonzo has found a suitable place behind the listening position. :smashin:

But I wonder how long it stays there before a few tentative experiments in alternative positions begin. I hope they aren't necessary of course.

But you know what it's like when the nagging doubts begin to creep in.

You obviously missed the humour in my post 'Oldie'. ;)

    Hi Nimby
No nagging doubts the sub totally disappears it DOES sound better in its new position.AS for a nagging wife shes just given me £1000 towards a new plasma so it could be worse :D .
    Cheers Gonzo.
PS nimby its not easy with a 190lb sub to keep trying new positions :D .
