Its not that type of forum!!

Hi Rich,

I have a couple of US and Jap transformers from these guys...

http://www.airlinktransformers.com/

This is the 100VA (100W) 120Volt version which should be suitable for your needs, but check the Wattage requirements on the player first :smashin: ...

http://www.airlinktransformers.com/transformer/us0100-100va-american-120volt-transformer.asp

They are hand built silent toroidal transformers, and do a great job for my D-Theater players. I also have the 100V Jap version for my HLD-X9 laserdisc player, which they custom built, and then put on the web site for general sale!!

A great company to deal with. The main thing to bear in mind, is that you need good head room with transformers, ie. my D-Theater player draws 46 Watts, and the transformer above can supply 100 Watts. If you go for a cheapy 50W transformer, it will likely burn out, and can damage the player too.

Find out how many watts the player draws, and start from there.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Lee

Hi Fatrich

I totally agree with the above statements about headroom being required. I personally would allow even more to aviod buzzing and overheating. A member of this forum used a 50va tranny on his new HD-A1 and a few days later it burnt out and took the electronics out on the A1, you can do a search to find him. Whatever you go for make sure it has a thermal cut-out as well.

I personally recommend this unit from http://cpc.farnell.com
Its model no: TF00013

here

And if you later buy another US import item, ie. XBOX, PS3 or colour RC it has a second output. Its compact and dead quite.

Sorry yes, its Rated 300VA.

I am trying to fix the old one first!! I think I know the problem and will swap some chips out this week together with added 'cooling' mods, probably friday....It would be be great to hold out a little longer as the only things I don't like about it are size, noise level and 'only' 720p resolution, if I can keep it going until the likes of the cheap 1080p DLP or Pearls come, then I think it will be a better use of my money, as I can address all these issues :)
